2018 United States Women's Curling Championship
The 2018 United States Women's Curling Championship was held from March 3 to 10 in Fargo, North Dakota. It was held in conjunction with the 2018 United States Men's Curling Championship. The winning team earned the right to represent the United States at the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship provided that they are also in the top 75 WCT Order of Merit (2 tear period) or have at least 40 points WCT Order of Merit year-to-date ranking as of January 31, 2018. Fargo ( /ˈfɑɹɡoʊ/) is a city in and the county seat of Cass County, North Dakota, United States. Curling Competitions In North Dakota
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Emily Anderson OBE (17 March 1891 – 26 October 1962) was an Irish scholar of German ancestry, music historian and cryptanalyst at the British Government Code and Cipher School (now GCHQ) for almost 30 years. Early life Anderson was born in Galway, Ireland, the daughter of physicist Alexander Anderson, a Presbyterian from Coleraine, and his wife Emily Gertrude Binns. Alexander Anderson became president of Queens College Galway (QCG) in 1899. She was educated privately and won the Browne Scholarship in both 1909 and 1910 at QCG, where she received a B.A. in 1911. Along with her twin sister Sarah, she was United States National Champion in 2019 and World Junior silver medalist in 2016. Curling career Junior Agre is a two-time United States Junior Curling Champion with teammates Tabitha Peterson, Tara Peterson and Sophie Brorson, winning in 2009 and 2010.
