2018 United States House Of Representatives Elections In New Jersey
The 2018 United States House of Representatives elections in New Jersey were held on November 6, 2018, to elect the 12 U.S. representatives from the state of New Jersey, one from each of the state's 12 congressional districts. The elections coincided with other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections. Democrats won 4 seats from Republicans and changed control from 7–5 for Democrats to 11–1 for Democrats, the lowest number of seats Republicans have won in the state since 1912. This is the first time since the 1912 elections that Republicans failed to hold any seat in North Jersey. However, Representative Jeff Van Drew of the 2nd District would later change his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican in December 2019 bringing it down to 10-2. New Jersey's 4th congressional district is a congressional district that stretches along the New Jersey Shore. It has been represented by Republican Chris Smith since 1981, the second-longest currently serving member of the US House of Representatives and the longest serving member of Congress from New Jersey in history. Although the 4th district had a presence in Mercer County for decades, it lost its two towns in the county (Hamilton and Robbinsville) following the redistricting process in late 2021, which was based on the 2020 census. Donald Norcross
Donald W. Norcross (born December 13, 1958) is an American politician and labor leader who is the U.S. representative for in South Jersey. A member of the Democratic Party, Norcross was first elected to this congressional seat in 2014, following the resignation of Rob Andrews. His district covers much of the New Jersey side of the Philadelphia metro area, including Camden, Cherry Hill, Lindenwold, and Glassboro. New Jersey's 11th congressional district is a suburban district in northern New Jersey. The district includes portions of Essex, Morris, and Passaic Counties; it is centered in Morris County. The 11th congressional district, along with the 12th, was created in 1913 based on the results of the 1910 census, and was centered in Essex County. The congressional seat was held by Democrats for almost 36 years under Hugh Joseph Addonizio and Joseph Minish. New Jersey's 9th Congressional District
New Jersey's 9th congressional district is represented in Congress by Democrat Bill Pascrell, who resides in Paterson. Congressman Pascrell was first elected in 1996 from the old 8th district (prior to the 2010 census), defeating incumbent William J. Martini. The 9th district consists largely of municipalities in Bergen County and Passaic County.
