2018 Temple Owls Football Team
The 2018 Temple Owls football team represents Temple University in the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Owls were led by second-year head coach Geoff Collins during the regular season and play their home games at Lincoln Financial Field. They are members of the East Division of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 8–5, 7–1 in AAC play to finish in 2nd place in the East Division. They were invited to play in the Independence Bowl, where they lost to Duke. On December 7, 2018, head coach Geoff Collins left for the head coaching job at Georgia Tech. Tight ends coach Ed Foley led the Owls in the Independence Bowl. On December 13, the Owls initially named Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz as their new head coach. Geoff Collins (American Football)
William Geoffrey Collins (born April 10, 1971) is an American football coach and former player. Collins was the head coach at Georgia Tech from December 7, 2018, to September 25, 2022. He was previously the head coach at Temple University, and had served in the past as defensive coordinator for the University of Florida and Mississippi State University. Coaching career Early career Collins graduated from Rockdale County High School in Conyers, Georgia, where he played for coach and mentor Bob Smith. He went on to play football at Western Carolina University. Following his graduation, Collins served as a student assistant at Western Carolina, his alma mater, during the 1993 and 1994 seasons. 2017 FIU Panthers Football Team
The 2017 FIU Panthers football team represented Florida International University in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Panthers played their home games at the Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami, Florida as members of the East Division of Conference USA (C–USA). They were led by first-year head coach Butch Davis. The Panthers finished the season 8–5, 5–3 in C-USA play to finish in second place in the East Division. They received an invitation to the Gasparilla Bowl where they lost to Temple. Previous season The Panther finished the 2016 season 4–8, 4–4 in C-USA play to finish in fourth place in the East Division. Isaiah Wright
Isaiah Wright (born January 13, 1997) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He was most recently a member of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Temple and was signed by the Washington Football Team of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Early life and high school Wright was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. Kenneth Yeboah (born October 30, 1998) is an American football tight end for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Temple and Ole Miss. Early years Yeboah was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Following his sophomore year in high school, his family moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania. Ryquell Keeman Armstead (born October 30, 1996) is an American football running back for the DC Defenders. He played college football at Temple and was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
