2018 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Football Team
The 2018 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team represented Rutgers University during the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Scarlet Knights played their home games at HighPoint.com Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey and competed as members of the East Division of the Big Ten Conference. They were led by third-year head coach Chris Ash. Rutgers began the year with a 35–7 victory over Texas State, but things quickly turned south for the team. After a blowout loss to Ohio State in Rutgers' conference opener, the team traveled to play Kansas, who had lost 39 of their previous 42 games against FBS opponents. Rutgers lost in a blowout, 55–14. The next week, the team was blown out 42–13 by Buffalo of the Mid-American Conference. In the remainder of conference play, the Scarlet Knights were mostly outmatched, losing the rest of their games, despite holding fourth quarter leads in games against Northwestern and Michigan State. Chris Ash
Chris Ash (born December 24, 1973) is an American football coach who is the defensive backs coach for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). A coaching veteran of 24 years, Ash previously served as the head coach at Rutgers University from 2016 to 2019 and also served as an assistant coach at the University of Texas at Austin, Ohio State University, University of Arkansas, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Iowa State University, San Diego State University and Drake University. Early years Ash played college football at Drake University as a safety on the football team and earned his bachelor’s degree from Drake. The 1997 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team represented Rutgers University in the 1997 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their second season under head coach Terry Shea, the Scarlet Knights compiled a 0–11 record, were outscored by opponents 496 to 191, and finished in last place in the Big East Conference. The team's statistical leaders included Mike McMahon with 1,259 passing yards, Jacki Crooks with 758 rushing yards, and Walter King with 445 receiving yards. Erasmus Hall High School was a four-year public high school located at 899–925 Flatbush Avenue between Church and Snyder Avenues in the Flatbush neighborhood of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Isiah “Pop” Pacheco (born March 2, 1999) is an American football running back for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed Pop and Pachinko Machine, he played college football at Rutgers and was drafted by the Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Nathaniel Narbonne High School (NHS) is a school located at 24300 South Western Avenue, in the Harbor City area of Los Angeles, California.
