The women's tournament in the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens was held at AT&T Park in San Francisco alongside the men's tournament in which the teams competed for the Women's Rugby Sevens World Cup. Format Unlike previous editions, the tournament was played for the first time in a knock-out only format. * Teams in the Championship Cup competed for the Women's Rugby Sevens World Cup trophy and bronze medals. * Losing teams in the Championship Cup Quarter-finals competed for 5th Place. * Losing teams in the Championship Cup Round of 16 (first round) competed for the Challenge Trophy and 13th Place. * All teams played four matches. Beatrice Benvenuti
Maria Beatrice Benvenuti (born 1993) is an Italian rugby union referee. Benvenuti has refereed at the 2016 Olympic Games, the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2014 and 2017 and the Women's Six Nations Championship in 2018 and 2019. She has also refereed at the 2018 Women's Rugby World Cup Sevens and at the 2018 USA Women's Sevens. In December 2016, she was tackled during an Italian League match by Argentinian player Bruno Doglioli. Hollie Davidson
Hollie Davidson is a professional rugby union referee who is contracted with the Scottish Rugby Union. Playing career Davidson began playing competitive rugby when she was 14. She played at scrum-half for Murrayfield Wanderers, one of the most successful women's rugby union teams in Scotland. During her time there she was known as the speed bump. However a shoulder injury put paid to her playing career. At Edinburgh University she played for the women's rugby side winning the BUCS final. Sara Cox (born 1990/91) is an English rugby union referee and former rugby union footballer. In 2016, she became the world's first professional female rugby union referee, and in 2018 she became the first female to referee a Premiership Rugby Cup match. On 25 September 2021, she became the first woman to referee a Premiership Rugby Union Match when she took centre field for a fixture between Harlequins and Worcester Warriors at the Stoop.
