2018 OKC Energy FC Season
The 2018 OKC Energy FC season was the club's fifth season of existence, and their fifth consecutive season in the United Soccer League, the second tier of American soccer. Energy FC also played in the U.S. Open Cup. The season covered the period from November 5, 2017, to the beginning of the 2019 USL season. The 2018 season was the first for OKC under new head coach Steve Cooke, who had previously been the interim head coach of Colorado Rapids. Cooke became just the second head coach in club history; Jimmy Nielsen had been in charge for the previous four seasons. Energy FC finished tenth place in the Western Conference, missing the playoffs for just the second time in club history and the first time since 2014. OKC took points from 16 of their last 21 matches, after losing 10 of their first 13 games, but still finished 10 points outside the final playoff spot. Oklahoma City Energy Football Club is an American professional soccer club based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The club is a member of the USL Championship, the second division of the American soccer league system. History Oklahoma City businessman Robert "Bob" Funk, Jr., was awarded a United Soccer League franchise on July 2, 2013, and in November, the club announced its name would be Oklahoma City Energy FC. Cody Laurendi
Cody Laurendi (born August 15, 1988) is a Puerto Rican former professional footballer. Career Youth and college Laurendi attended Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne where he lettered in both soccer and in football, as a kicker. In his senior year, he was named MVP of the Brevard County All-Star game when he came on as a field player and scored 4 goals. In a newspaper interview after the match, he said, "It's the icing on the cake. I got a lot of help from my teammates. It also helps that I'm a lot larger than most of the guys out there". Beckie (born September 30, 1990) is a Canadian former professional association football, soccer player who currently serves as the team manager for Canadian Premier League club Atlético Ottawa. Christian Ogochukwu Ibeagha (born January 10, 1990) is a Nigerian-born American soccer player. Career Youth, College and Amateur Ibeagha attended Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Oklahoma and spent his entire college career at Duke University. Kyle Hyland (born March 1, 1991) is an American former professional soccer player. Career College Hyland played at IUPUI in Indianapolis from 2009 to 2012. Richard Dixon (born 23 February 1990) is a Jamaican footballer who plays as a defender for Chattanooga FC in MLS Next Pro. James Matthew "Matt" Van Oekel (born September 20, 1986) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for USL Championship club Birmingham Legion FC.
