2018 Intercontinental GT Challenge
The 2018 Intercontinental GT Challenge was the third season of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The season featured four rounds, starting with the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour on 4 February and concluding with the California 8 Hours on 28 October. Markus Winkelhock was the defending Drivers' champion and Audi was the defending Manufacturers' champion. The series reverted to rules of the inaugural season, where each manufacturer was permitted to nominate up to four cars in each event. In 2017 all cars and drivers scored points towards the championship. Calendar At the annual press conference during the 2017 24 Hours of Spa on 28 July, the Stéphane Ratel Organisation announced the 2018 calendar. Suzuka was added to the schedule, replacing the Sepang 12 Hours, which was cancelled the season before. On 25 November 2017, it was announced the race at Laguna Seca was moved a week. Intercontinental GT Challenge
The Intercontinental GT Challenge is a sports car racing series developed by the SRO Group in 2016. It consists of international endurance races for grand tourer racing cars complying with the FIA's GT3 regulations. Format The series is aimed at manufacturers. Instead of fielding their own cars, manufacturers can appoint and support local teams in selected events to gain points. Four manufacturers took part in the inaugural series in 2016: Audi, Bentley, McLaren and Mercedes. The races may be stand-alone events, like the Suzuka 10 Hours, (which the event are organized by GT Association, Super GT race promoter) and the Bathurst 12 Hour (the event are organized by Supercars Events), or part of another championship (like the 24 Hours of Spa, Indianapolis 8 Hour and Kyalami 9 Hours) but they are all contested by cars complying with the same technical regulations. 2018 California 8 Hours
The 2018 WeatherTech Raceway California 8 Hours was the second edition of the WeatherTech Raceway California 8 Hours race held on WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on 28 October 2018. The race was contested with GT3-spec cars, GT Cup-spec cars, GT4-spec cars, MARC cars and TCR-touring cars. The race was organized by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO). WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
Laguna Seca Raceway (branded as WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and previously Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca) is a paved road racing track in central California used for both auto racing and motorcycle racing, built in 1957 near both Salinas and Monterey, California, United States. The racetrack is long, with a elevation change. Its eleven turns are highlighted by the circuit's signature turn, the downhill-plunging "Corkscrew" at Turns 8 and 8A. A variety of racing, exhibition, and entertainment events are held at the raceway, ranging from superkarts to sports car racing to music festivals. 2018 Suzuka 10 Hours
The 2018 Suzuka 10 Hours was endurance event that took place on August 26, 2018 at the Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka City, Japan. It was the 47th edition of the Summer Endurance Classic at Suzuka, and the first as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, running under the ten-hour format (the race having previously been a 1000-kilometer format). The race was won by the GruppeM Racing team with Maro Engel, Raffaele Marciello and Tristan Vautier driving. Due to regulation change, GT300 cars were still eligible to race in Suzuka 10 Hours, while GT500 cars were banned.
