However, following the approval by the IAAF of the women's 50 km walk as an official event, for the first time women were permitted to enter the 50 km. Declan Tingay (born 6 February 1999) is an Australian racewalking athlete. He qualified to represent Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo 2021, competing in the men's 20 kilometres walk. Tingay finished in 17th place with a time of 1:24.00 close to 3 minutes behind the eventual winner, Massimo Stano. Early years Tingay started walking when he was 9 months and never looked back. He started Little Athletics when he was 5 years of age. His parents encouraged him as they wanted to give him an opportunity to play sport and also the athletics club was the most local to them.
