2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's Long Jump
The women's long jump at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place at Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 4 March 2018. Summary Brittney Reese entered the competition as defending champion and reigning world champion outdoors. She had won the 2018 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a jump of , ranking third among jumpers before the event. Leading the world on distance was Serbia's Ivana Španović, with the European champion and 2016 World Indoor runner-up having cleared . With just one centimetre less was emerging athlete Khaddi Sagnia, who had equalled the Swedish record in February. As winner of the IAAF World Indoor Tour, Germany's Sosthene Moguenara-Taroum received a wildcard entry. Until the final jumper of the first round, Quanesha Burks's personal best 6.81m held the lead until Španović took the lead with a 6.89m. Lauma Grīva (born 27 October 1984) was a Latvian athlete who competed in the long jump. Ksenija Balta (born 1 November 1986) is an Estonian long jumper, sprinter and heptathlete. She won the long jump at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Athletics. Quanesha Burks (born March 15, 1995) is an American track and field athlete who mainly competes as a long jumper. IAAF World Indoor Tour
The World Athletics Indoor Tour, formerly the IAAF World Indoor Tour, is an annual series of indoor track and field meetings, held since 2016. It was designed to create a Diamond League-style circuit for indoor track and field events, to raise the profile of indoor track and field, and replaced the IAAF Indoor Permit Meetings series. The tour was announced with initially four meetings, three in Europe and one in the United States, leading to the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon.
