2018 European Athletics Championships – Men's 100 Metres
The men's 100 metres at the 2018 European Athletics Championships took place at the Olympic Stadium on 6 and 7 August. Churandy Martina of the Netherlands was the defending champion, Jak Ali Harvey of Turkey was the defending silver medalist, and Jimmy Vicaut of France was the defending bronze medalist. Records Schedule Competition format The top eight ranked athletes by time during the season who entered the championships were given a BYE into the Semi-Finals. The first round was held on Monday, August 6. The Semi-Finals were held the day after, and the Final just over two hours after that. 2018 European Athletics Championships
The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom. For the second Championships in a row the Russian team did not participate; this was due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, several athletes were cleared by the IAAF to compete as Authorised Neutral Athletes under the flag of the European Athletic Association. Mariya Lasitskene became the first such athlete to win a gold medal, in the women's high jump. Noah Lyles (born July 18, 1997) is an American professional track and field sprinter competing in the 100 meters and 200 meters. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic 200 m bronze medalist and a two-time World champion, having won the event at the 2019 and 2022 World Athletics Championships. At these Championships Lyles also earned gold and silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay respectively. Yazaldes Valdemar Nascimento Alfonso (born 17 April 1986) is a Portuguese athlete who specializes in the 100 metres. Participating in the 2004 Summer Olympics, Nascimento achieved eighth place in his 100 m heat, thus missing out on a placing in Round 2 of the event. Ján Volko
Ján Volko (born 2 November 1996) is a Slovak sprinter. He competed in the 60 metres at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships. His biggest successes to date are: the silver medal at the 2017 European Indoor Championships with a new national record of 6.58, the gold medal at the 2019 European Indoor Championships, and the bronze medal at the 2021 European Indoor Championships.
