2018 Clemson Tigers Men's Soccer Team
The Clemson Tigers men's soccer team represent Clemson University in the Atlantic Coast Conference of NCAA Division I soccer. The program has won 3 NCAA national championships, 14 Atlantic Coast Conference championships, and hosted 3 Hermann Trophy winners ( Bruce Murray in 1987, Wojtek Krakowiak in 1998, and Robbie Robinson in 2019). History Clemson began sponsoring a soccer team in 1934, playing a hybrid schedule of colleges and prep schools. The team was discontinued after the 1939 season. In 1967, the university decided to re-add soccer as a varsity sport. Dr. I. M. Ibrahim, who was a chemistry professor at the time, was chosen to lead the program. In the program's inaugural season, the team posted a 6–5 record. From 1967 to 1971, the Tigers posted four winning seasons overall, but were consistently in the bottom tier of the ACC. Mike Noonan
Michael Noonan (June 30, 1961) is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the American Indoor Soccer Association and is currently the head coach of the Clemson University men's soccer team. Playing career Noonan attended Middlebury College, playing on the men's soccer team from 1979 to 1982. He was a 1981 and 1982 Division III NCAA First Team All American. Noonan played for the Louisville Thunder in the American Indoor Soccer Association. In 1986, he signed with the Fort Wayne Flames where he spent two seasons. In 2017, Noonan was inducted into the Middlebury College Athletics Hall of Fame for his playing time there. Coaching career In 1989, Noonan was hired as head coach of the Wheaton College men's soccer team. The team had a 4–11–0 record his first season, but he took them to a 12–5–1 record his second season. Graham Neff
Graham Neff (born 1983) is the athletics director at Clemson University. He previously served as Clemson's deputy athletics director from 2014 to 2021 and associate athletic director of finance and facilities in 2013. Prior to that, Neff served in senior administrative roles specializing in finance, facilities and external operations at Middle Tennessee State University from 2011 to 2012. Neff received his B.S. and M.B.A at Georgia Tech before embarking on his administrative career.
