2018 Asian Games Parade Of Nations
During the Parade of Nations at the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony, beginning at 19:00 WIB ( UTC+7) on 18 August 2018, athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations led their national delegations as they paraded into the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in the co-host city of Jakarta, Indonesia, preceded by their flag and placard bearer. Each flag bearer had been chosen either by the nation's National Olympic Committee or by the athletes themselves. In keeping with tradition, the host nation, Indonesia entered last. 44 teams marched in (43 nations and the Unified Korea team). Although the Games were held in Indonesia, English was used to organize the Parade of Nations (as per Olympic Council of Asia protocol) instead of Indonesian, the official language of the nation. Had the parade followed the Indonesian alphabet, Afghanistan would have been followed by Saudi Arabia, and Jordan would have been the penultimate country before Indonesia. The Indonesian Archipelago geographically stretches across four time zones from UTC+06:00 in Aceh to UTC+09:00 in Papua. Sorn Seavmey
Sorn Seavmey ( km, ស៊ន សៀវម៉ី; born 14 September 1995) is a Cambodian taekwondo practitioner and gold medalist in the women’s under-73 kg event at 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. She was also a 2013 SEA Games gold medalist in Myanmar and the 2017 SEA Games in Malaysia. In 2014, she won Cambodia's first gold medal at the Asian Games since its participation in 1954. At the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, Seavmey defeated her first-round opponent from Uzbekistan 29-7, then defeated her Filipino opponent in the semi-final 6-5. In the final round, she defeated her opponent from Iran 7-4, becoming the first Cambodian to win an Asian Games medal. Basma Lachkar
Basma Lachkar (born 25 March 2003) is a Bruneian wushu athlete of Moroccan descent specializing in tai chi. Early life and education Lachkar was born to a Moroccan father and Bruneian mother. She attended Chung Hwa Middle School taking up wushu initially as a school co-curricular activity to join her brother, Walid Lachkar. In October 2022, Hajah Rosnah binti Awang Tengah, her mother, passed away. Notably, she graduated Jerudong International School (JIS) in class 2022, and Sports School from 2016 to 2019. Career Lachkar would eventually become part of Brunei's wushu national team which has been under Chinese coach Li Hui since 2006. In the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 22 August 2017, she became victorious in the Women's Compulsory Taijiquan finals of the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games with a score of 9.54 points. Karma (born 6 June 1990) is a Bhutanese recurve archer from Trashiyangtse in eastern Bhutan and lives at Thimphu also in Bhutan. Career Like with other Bhutanese, Karma is a mononymous person who goes by a single name. Being interested in sports, Karma took up archery in April 2009. She could have been a runner if not archery came first. Her first appearance as an international competitor was in 2012 and by 2018, she already competed in more than eight international events. She competed in the individual recurve event and the team recurve event at the 2013 and 2015 World Archery Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark and she represented Bhutan at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro as wildcard.
