2018 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2018 American Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament ended the 2017β18 American Athletic Conference men's basketball season, 2017β18 season of the American Athletic Conference. It was held March 8β11, 2018, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Regular-season champion 2017β18 Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team, Cincinnati won the tournament and with it the league's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament. Seeds All 12 conference teams participated in the conference tournament. The top four teams received a bye into the quarterfinals. Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. Amway Center is an indoor arena located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. The arena is home to the Orlando Magic of the NBA, the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, and the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League. The 2017β18 UCF Knights men's basketball team represented the University of Central Florida during the 2017β18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Knights are members of the American Athletic Conference. The American Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament (sometimes known simply as The American Championship) is the conference tournament in basketball for the American Athletic Conference. It is a single-elimination tournament that involves all league schools (12 with the addition of Wichita State for the 2017β18 season). Its seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament; however, the official conference championship is awarded to the team or teams with the best regular season record. The creation of the conference tournament was a product of the split of the original Big East Conference.
