2017–18 Rotherham United F.C. Season
The 2017–18 season was Rotherham United's 93rd season in their existence and their first back in League One following relegation in 2016–17. Along with competing in League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy. Key events On 23 August 2017, Rotherham United were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Premier League side Huddersfield Town in the second round. Rotherham () is a large minster and market town in South Yorkshire, England. The town takes its name from the River Rother which then merges with the River Don. The River Don then flows through the town centre. It is the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham. Rotherham is also the third largest settlement in South Yorkshire after Sheffield and Doncaster, which it is located between. Traditional industries included glass making and flour milling. Fratton Park
Fratton Park is a football ground in Portsmouth, England, which is the home of Portsmouth F.C. Fratton Park remains as the only home football ground in Portsmouth FC's entire history. The early Fratton Park was designed by local architect Arthur Cogswell and built in 1899 on the site of a market garden in Milton, a Portsea Island farming village. In 1904, Milton and the rest of Portsea Island became part of Portsmouth. Fratton Park's Portsea Island location means it is uniquely the only football ground in English professional football which is not on the mainland of Great Britain. Will Vaulks
William Robert Vaulks (born 13 September 1993) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL Championship club Sheffield Wednesday and the Wales national team. He began his professional career at Tranmere Rovers in 2012 but did not make a senior appearance, going on loan to Workington of the Conference North before joining Scottish club Falkirk in February 2013. He played 142 games for the club, including the 2015 Scottish Cup Final and two Scottish Championship play-off finals. Joseph William Mattock (born 15 May 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left-back for EFL League Two club Harrogate Town. Mattock is a graduate of the Leicester City youth academy and has also represented England youth teams at nearly every level. Club career Leicester City Mattock was a regular for the Leicester under-18 side (playing alongside the likes of Ashley Chambers, Max Gradel, Andy King and Eric Odhiambo) as well as England U17s. Joshua Oluwadurotimi Emmanuel (born 18 August 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a right back and winger for Carlisle United. He will become a free agent on 30 June 2024. The English Football League play-offs for the 2017–18 season (referred to as the Sky Bet Play-Offs for sponsorship reasons) were held in May 2018 with all finals being staged at Wembley Stadium in London. The play-offs began in each league with two semi-finals played over two legs.
