2017–18 Portland Pilots Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Portland Pilots men's basketball team represented the University of Portland during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Pilots, led by second-year head coach Terry Porter, played their home games at the Chiles Center as members of the West Coast Conference. They finished the season 10–22, 4–14 in WCC play to finish in ninth place. They lost in the first round of the WCC tournament to Loyola Marymount. Previous season The Pilots finished the 2016–17 season 11–22, 2–16 in WCC play to finish in last place. They defeated San Diego in the first round of the WCC tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to Saint Mary's. Terry Porter
Terry Porter (born April 8, 1963) is an American former college basketball coach and former player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at the University of Portland. A native of Wisconsin, he played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point before being drafted 24th by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1985 NBA draft. In Portland, he played ten seasons with two All-Star Game appearances. Porter spent 17 years in the NBA as a player. Following his retirement as a player in 2002, he began coaching in the league. Porter has twice been a head coach, first with his hometown Milwaukee Bucks and then with the Phoenix Suns. Early life Porter was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 8, 1963. The Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball program is a college basketball team that represents the University of Nevada, Reno. Jaaziel "Jazz" Johnson (born September 26, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Rinascita Basket Rimini of the Serie A2 Basket. He played college basketball for Portland and Nevada.
