2017–18 PSV Eindhoven Season
During the 2017–18 season, PSV Eindhoven participated in the Dutch Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and the UEFA Europa League. They won the Eredivisie by defeating Ajax 3-0 at the Philips Stadion. Season summary Several starting players departed the club before the season, including Andrés Guardado, Héctor Moreno, Davy Pröpper and Jetro Willems. The biggest incoming transfer was Hirving Lozano, coming from Mexican club Pachuca. Despite these changes PSV won the Eredivisie title. The league was decided after a 3–0 victory over rivals Ajax. In the KNVB cup, PSV reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Feyenoord. PSV's Europa League campaign was a failure as they were knocked out by Croatian side Osijek in the qualifying rounds: it was the first time in 43 years that PSV failed to qualify for the main tournament of a European competition. Philips Sport Vereniging (; en, Philips Sports Association ), abbreviated as PSV and internationally known as PSV Eindhoven (), is a Dutch sports club from Eindhoven, Netherlands. It is best known for its professional football department, which has played in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football, since its inception in 1956. Along with Ajax and Feyenoord, PSV is one of the country's " big three" clubs that have dominated the Eredivisie. The club was founded in 1913 as a team for Philips employees. PSV's history contains two golden eras revolving around the UEFA Cup victory in 1978 and the 1987–88 European Cup victory as part of the seasonal treble in 1988. The team has won the Eredivisie 24 times, the KNVB Cup ten times and the Johan Cruyff Shield a record of twelve times. Currently (as of May 2021), PSV is ranked 56th on the UEFA club coefficients ranking.

Sam Lammers (born 30 April 1997) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Sampdoria, on loan from Atalanta. Club career Before Lammers signed for PSV in 2010, he played for Willem II and VOAB, a local football club from Goirle. His debut in paid football was on 10 August 2015, when he faced Go Ahead Eagles with Jong PSV. On 8 August 2016, he scored a hat-trick in Jong PSV's 5–4 win against Den Bosch. Eloy Victor Room (born 6 February 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew. Marco Wulfert Cornelis van Ginkel (; born 1 December 1992) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Eredivisie club Vitesse. He can also play as a defensive or attacking midfielder. Van Ginkel began his career in the youth ranks of Vitesse, joining the Arnhem-based club as a six-year-old in 1999. Luuk de Jong (; born 27 August 1990) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a striker for Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands national team. Jorrit Petrus Carolina Hendrix (born 6 February 1995) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for German club Fortuna Düsseldorf.
