2017–18 Oxford United F.C. Season
The 2017–18 season was Oxford United's second consecutive season in League One and their 124th year in existence. As well as competing in League One, the club participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Before the start of the season, manager Michael Appleton resigned to become assistant manager at Leicester City. His replacement Pep Clotet, formerly assistant manager at Leeds United, in contrast to Appleton's policy of signing promising young British players, signed a mix of foreign players, among them Dwight Tiendalli, Xemi Fernández, Ivo Pękalski, Agon Mehmeti and Ricardinho (the first Brazilian to play for Oxford), and seasoned British pros including Jonathan Obika from rivals Swindon Town, James Henry, Mike Williamson and John Mousinho. Chey Dunkley
Cheyenne Armani Keanu Roma "Chey" Dunkley (born 13 February 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for Shrewsbury Town. Club career Early career Born in Wolverhampton, Dunkley joined Crewe Alexandra's youth setup in 2006, aged 14. He made his senior debut while on a work experience loan at Hednesford Town in 2010. In the 2010 summer, Dunkley was released by Crewe, and joined Hednesford permanently. John Mousinho
John Michael Lewis Mousinho (born 30 April 1986) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for League One club Oxford United. He is the chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA). Mousinho began his professional football career at Brentford, having previously played for Chesham United and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the latter whilst studying at the University of Notre Dame. He spent two-and-a-half years at Brentford, before joining Wycombe Wanderers in June 2008 on a free transfer. Mousinho played regularly for Wycombe for two seasons, experiencing both a promotion and relegation during his time at the Buckinghamshire club. Michael James Williamson (born 8 November 1983) is an English professional football manager and player who plays as a centre back. He is the player-manager of club Gateshead. Club career Early career Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Williamson played six first-team games for Torquay United before joining Southampton in November 2001 for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £100,000. However, Williamson was unable to get into the first team at Southampton. He returned to Plainmoor on loan for two months in September 2003, where he made 11 further appearances. Jonathan Chiedozie Obika (born 12 September 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for League One club Morecambe. Club career Tottenham Obika is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth system and was the top scorer for the academy side in the 2007–08 season. He made his first team debut in the UEFA Cup on 27 November 2008 against NEC Nijmegen. He also played against Ukrainian side FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the same competition. Ricardo Ferreira da Silva Kubitski, or simply Ricardinho (; born 9 September 1984), is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for São Joseense. Agon Xhevat Mehmeti (born 20 November 1989) is an Albanian former professional footballer who last played as a striker for Örebro SK. Club career Malmö FF Mehmeti began his football career at IFK Malmö before moving to join Malmö FF in 2002. While progressing at the club, he progressed throughout the development and impressed as "an offensive team player, outward forward". Having scored 45 goals in 43 appearances during his time at the club's youth system, Mehmeti was promoted to the first team for the 2008 season. Ivo Dominik Pękalski ( born 3 November 1990) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Utsiktens BK. Josep Miquel Fernández Codina (born 2 February 1995), commonly known as Xemi, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for UCAM Murcia CF as a central or attacking midfielder. Dwight Marciano Tiendalli (; born 21 October 1985) is a Surinamese-born Dutch former professional footballer. He generally played as a full-back. Tiendalli is a former Dutch under-21 international, and was part of the FC Twente team that won the 2009–10 Eredivisie.
