The 2017–18 Melbourne Victory FC season was the club's 13th season since its establishment in 2004. The club participated in the A-League for the 13th time, the FFA Cup for the fourth time, as well as the AFC Champions League for the sixth time. Melbourne Victory Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in Melbourne, Victoria. Competing in the country's premier men's competition, the A-League Men, under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL), Victory entered the competition in the inaugural season as the only Victorian-based club in the newly revamped domestic Australian league. Recognised as the most supported and second most successful club in the league to date, Victory has won four A-League Championships, three A-League Premierships, one Pre-Season Challenge Cup and two Australia Cups, the only club to have won all four domestic trophies in the modern era of Australian soccer. They have also competed in the AFC Champions League on seven occasions, most recently in 2020. FFA Cup
The Australia Cup, formerly known as the FFA Cup until the 2021 season, is the national football knockout cup competition in Australia. This annual competition is organised by Football Australia, formerly known as Football Federation Australia until 2020. The Australia Cup comprises teams from the top division, A-League Men (known as simply the A-League before the 2021–22 season), as well as those from lower tiers in the Australian soccer league system. Teams enter in progressive stages, with qualifying rounds culminating with the competition proper, starting with the Round of 32. James Kevin Donachie (born 14 May 1993) is an Australian soccer player who plays as a centre back for Sydney FC in the A-League. Club career Brisbane Roar In 2010, he signed a youth contract with A-League club Brisbane Roar. He made his professional debut in the 2011–12 A-League season on 25 March 2012 in a round 27 clash against Gold Coast United at the Robina Stadium. Two weeks before the start of 2012–13 A-League Donachie signed a three-year senior contract with Brisbane. In June 2016 it was announced that Donachie would become a free agent. Joshua Hope (born 7 January 1998) is an Australian former professional footballer who currently plays as an attacking midfielder for Green Gully SC in NPL Victoria. Cameron Robert McGilp (born 8 February 1998) is a Scottish born Australian footballer who plays for Australian National Premier Leagues Victoria side Oakleigh Cannons, where he plays as a midfielder. Thomas Jok Deng (born 20 March 1997) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Japanese club Albirex Niigata. Born a South Sudanese refugee in Kenya, he has represented the Australia national team. Mitchell Gregory Reginald Austin (born 3 April 1991) is a professional association football player who plays as a winger. Born in England to an Australian father, Austin began his senior career at Stalybridge Celtic in 2010.
