2017–18 Long Beach State 49ers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers were led by 11th-year head coach Dan Monson and played their home games at the Walter Pyramid as members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 15–18, 9–7 in Big West play to finish in fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big West tournament to Cal State Fullerton. Dan Monson
Daniel Lloyd Monson (born October 6, 1961) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach at Eastern Washington. He was previously the head coach at Long Beach State for 17 seasons. He was also the head coach at Minnesota for over seven seasons, reaching postseason play five times. Before coaching the Gophers, he was the head coach at Gonzaga for two seasons, leading the team on an improbable run to the Elite Eight during his last season. Early years Monson is the son of college basketball coach Don Monson, and spent most of his early years in eastern Washington, where his father was a successful high school head coach in Cheney and Pasco for 18 seasons. The Akron Zips men's basketball team represents the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, Akron, Ohio. The team currently competes in the Mid-American Conference East division. The Zips are currently coached by John Groce. Prior to becoming members of the MAC in 1992, the Zips were members of the Ohio Valley Conference and the Summit League, Mid-Continent Conference. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are an intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Gonzaga University. The school competes in the West Coast Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Detroit Mercy Titans men's basketball team is the college basketball team that represents University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan, and competes in NCAA Division I men's basketball as a member of the Horizon League. Justin Bibbins
Justin Bibbins (born January 23, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Dinamo Sassari of the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for Long Beach State and Utah. College career Bibbins was recruited by Utah out of high school, but the Utes did not have a scholarship available for him by the time he was to join the squad. Instead, Bibbins enrolled at Long Beach State and was twice named All-Conference. He averaged 13.1 points and 4.6 assists per game as a junior.
