The 2017–18 season was Gillingham's 125th season in their existence and fifth consecutive season in League One. Along with League One, the club participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. EFL Trophy
The English Football League Trophy, known for sponsorship purposes as the Papa Johns Trophy after restaurant chain Papa John's Pizza, is an annual English association football knockout competition open to all clubs in EFL League One and EFL League Two, with the addition of 16 under-21 teams from Premier League and EFL Championship clubs since the 2016–17 season. It is the 3rd most prestigious knockout competition in English football after the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Billy Bingham (footballer, Born 1990)
Billy Christopher Bingham (born 15 July 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. He made his first senior appearance playing for Dagenham & Redbridge. Career Bingham started his career as a youth player at Crystal Palace, starting a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2006. Upon its completion in April 2009, he signed a six-month deal on a non-contractual basis. Gabriel Zakuani
Gabriel Abdala Zakuani (born 31 May 1986) is a Congolese retired professional footballer who played as a defender. He was most recently manager of Spalding United. Zakuani began his career with Leyton Orient, and was a vital member of the side which gained promotion in 2005–06 and also knocked Premier League side Fulham out of the FA Cup.
