2017 Zagreb Local Elections
The 2017 Zagreb local elections were held on 21 May and 4 June 2017 for the Mayor of Zagreb and members of the Zagreb Assembly. Milan Bandić, the 52nd and incumbent mayor since 2005 (previously also the 50th mayor from 2000 to 2002), ran for a sixth 4-year term. As no candidate won an absolute majority of the vote in the first round, a second round of elections took place on 4 June 2017 between the two highest-placed candidates in terms of popular vote: incumbent mayor Milan Bandić of the Bandić Milan 365 - Labour and Solidarity Party and former Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning (Croatia), Minister of Construction Anka Mrak Taritaš of the Croatian People's Party - Liberal Democrats. In the run-off Bandić won re-election as mayor, taking 51.8% of the votes against 46% for Mrak Taritaš (with 2.1% of the votes being blank or invalid). Croatian Social Liberal Party
The Croatian Social Liberal Party ( hr, Hrvatska socijalno-liberalna stranka or HSLS) is a conservative-liberal political party in Croatia. The HSLS was formed in 1989 as the first Croatian political party formed after the reintroduction of multi-party system. HSLS first won the elections in 2000 and formed a coalition government with four other parties, including the largest party of the Croatian centre-left, the Social Democratic Party of Croatia. After losing the 2003 general election, the party's decline in political influence started. In the most recent 2015 general election, HSLS won 2 out of 151 seats in the Croatian Parliament as a member of a center-right coalition led by the Croatian Democratic Union party. The Green List ( Croatian: ''Zelena lista'' or ZL) was a green political party in Croatia. It was founded in 2005 prior to local elections for Zagreb Assembly in which it first competed. Its initial name was Greens for Zagreb (''Zeleni za Zagreb''). At the local elections in May 2009, the party won 14 seats in Zagreb city districts (''gradske četvrti'', sg. ''gradska četvrt'') councils and five in other local councils. In addition to their green politics, the party strongly supported gender equality, equal gender representation and participation and LGBT rights. The Key of Croatia ( hr, Ključ Hrvatske) is a populist political party in Croatia, formed out of an anti-eviction group of the same name.
