2017 World RX Of Great Britain
The 2017 World RX of Great Britain was the fifth round of the fourth season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The event was held at Lydden Hill Race Circuit in Wootton, Kent and also played host to the fourth round of the 2017 FIA European Rallycross Championship. It also hosted the second round of the 2017 RX2 International Series, the support category of the World Rallycross Championship. Timo Scheider was absent due to racing for BMW Motorsport in the 24 Hours Nürburgring. British touring car champion Andrew Jordan replaced Scheider at MJP Racing Team Austria. This was Jordan's third appearance at the World RX of Great Britain, having previously finished third in 2014 and seventh in 2015. Lydden Hill - Rallycross
''Lydden is also the name of a hamlet in the Manston, Kent civil parish'' Lydden is a civil parish and small village in the Dover district of Kent, England. The Lydden Race Circuit is located between here and Wootton to the west of the village. Lydden village consists of a triangle of 3 roads: Canterbury Road (part of the old A2 running between Dover, Canterbury and London), Stonehall and Church Lane. Lydden is set in a steep sided valley landscape, with grazing pasture and pockets of woodland along the valley side facing north west, and the extensive Lydden and Temple Ewell Downs National Nature Reserve facing south west. Sébastien Loeb (; born 26 February 1974) is a French professional rally, racing and rallycross driver. He is the most successful driver in the World Rally Championship (WRC), having won the world championship a record nine times in a row. EKS RX
EKS RX is a Swedish auto racing team founded by racing driver Mattias Ekström. The team is competing in FIA World Rallycross Championship since 2014 and entered the team championship in 2015. In January 2017 it was announced that the team would receive full factory support from Audi Sport for the 2017 World Rallycross Championship. The team had previously been run with assistance from Audi Sport's official suppliers. On 29 January 2018, team owner Mattias Ekström announced that he would be leaving the DTM series and concentrating on his World RX team. An announcement two days later confirmed that Andreas Bakkerud would be racing for the team in 2018. After the 2018 season on December 10, EKS announced that it would end its rallycross factory program due to Audi pulling the funding. Mattias Ekström (born 14 July 1978 in Falun, Sweden) is a racing driver from Sweden. He competed in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters for Audi from 2001 until his retirement in 2018, and has been competing in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, also for Audi, since its inception in 2014. He is a FIA World Rallycross Champion, a two-time DTM champion and a three-time winner of the Race of Champions. Career Ekström debuted in karting in 1993.
