2017 Women's PGA Championship
The 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship was the 63rd Women's PGA Championship, played June 29 – July 2 at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois, a suburb south of Chicago. Known as the LPGA Championship through 2014, it was the second of five major championships on the LPGA Tour during the 2017 season. Danielle Kang won the championship for her first professional win, one stroke ahead of defending champion Brooke Henderson. Olympia Fields hosted the PGA Championship in 1925 and 1961, and the U.S. Open in 1928 and 2003. It has also been the site of the and the U.S. Amateur (2015). Olympia Fields is a village and a south suburb of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,718 as of the 2020 census. Brooke Henderson
Brooke Mackenzie Henderson (born 10 September 1997) is a Canadian professional golfer on the LPGA Tour. Henderson was named the Canadian Press female athlete of the year for 2015, 2017 and 2018. Juli Inkster (born Juli Simpson; June 24, 1960) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. With a professional career spanning 29 years to date, Inkster's 31 wins rank her second in wins among all active players on the LPGA Tour; she has over $14 million in career earnings. United States Amateur Championship (golf)
The United States Amateur Championship, commonly known as the U.S. Amateur, is the leading annual golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers. It is organized by the United States Golf Association and is currently held each August over a 7-day period. In 1894 there were two tournaments called the "National Amateur Championship". One of them was played at Newport Country Club and was won by William G. Lawrence, and the other took place at Saint Andrew's Golf Club and was won by Laurence B. Stottard.
