2017 Washington Mystics Season
The 2017 WNBA season for the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association is scheduled to begin May 13, 2017. The Mystics got off to a strong start, posting a 10–5 record in May and June. After a 4–4 July, the Mystics struggled to finish out the season. A 4–6 finish saw them place third in the Eastern Conference, and earn the 6th overall seed in the playoffs. Strong performances from star players allowed the Mystics to win in the First Round over the 2017 Dallas Wings season, Dallas Wings and in the Second Round over the 2017 New York Liberty season, New York Liberty. Mike Thibault
Michael Francis Thibault (born September 28, 1950) is an American basketball head coach, formerly of the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA, and now of the Washington Mystics. In 2013, Thibault became the WNBA's all time most successful coach with 212 victories. Career Upon his graduation from Saint Martin's University in 1979, Thibault entered into the employ of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association, for whom he worked first as a scout and, after 1980, as director of scouting and as an assistant coach; during Thibault's tenure, the Lakers twice won the league championship. Jennie Simms (born April 21, 1994) is an American -Israeli professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the Israel women's national basketball team. Marianne Crawford Stanley (born April 29, 1954) is an American basketball coach. She previously served as the head coach of the Washington Mystics and Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Bria Nicole Hartley (born September 30, 1992) is a French-American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Kahleah Copper (born August 28, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted by the Washington Mystics in 2016, and was traded to the Chicago Sky the next year. In the 2016 WNBA draft, Copper was drafted with the seventh overall pick by the Washington Mystics.
