2017 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2017 UCI Women's World Tour was the second edition of the UCI Women's World Tour. For the 2017 season, the calendar consisted of 20 races, up from 17 in 2016. Two one-day races – the Amstel Gold Race and Liège–Bastogne–Liège, to complete an Ardennes classics week – were added along with the Ladies Tour of Norway and the Holland Ladies Tour; all 2016 races returned for the 2017 calendar, with the exception of the cancelled Philadelphia International Cycling Classic. The individual classification was won by Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen, riding for the team. Van der Breggen took the lead of the standings after winning the Tour of California, and after losing the lead to Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma () after the Women's Tour, van der Breggen regained the lead after victory at the Giro d'Italia Femminile. The UCI Women's World Tour is the premier annual female elite road cycling tour. The ''San Francisco Chronicle'' is a newspaper serving primarily the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It was founded in 1865 as ''The Daily Dramatic Chronicle'' by teenage brothers Charles de Young and M. H. de Young, Michael H. de Young. The third edition of the women's Strade Bianche was held on 4 March 2017, in Tuscany, Italy. Elisa Longo Borghini won the race, in bad weather, ahead of Katarzyna Niewiadoma and the previous year's champion, Lizzie Deignan. The women's Strade Bianche served as the first event of the second UCI Women's World Tour, the highest level of professional women's cycling. The race is organized on the same day as the men's event, at a shorter distance, but on much of the same roads. The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) is part of the French media group Éditions Philippe Amaury. It organises the Tour de France and other cycling races, as well as golf, running, sailing and off-road motorsport events. The president of ASO is Jean-Etienne Amaury, son of EPA founder Philippe Amaury. Cycling The Tour de France was instituted by the newspaper '' L'Auto'' in 1903. La Course by Le Tour de France was an elite women's professional road bicycle race held in France. First held in 2014 as a one-day race on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, it has been part of the UCI Women's WorldTour since 2016 as a one or two day race. The race was organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the organisers of the Tour de France. It was replaced in 2022 by Tour de France Femmes, a multi day stage race organised by ASO. 2017 La Course By Le Tour De France
The 2017 La Course by Le Tour de France with FDJ was the fourth edition of La Course by Le Tour de France, a women's cycle race held in France. The race was held before stage 18 of the 2017 Tour de France, between Briançon and the Col d'Izoard, on 20 July, and was followed by a pursuit race before stage 20 of the Tour de France. It was organised by the ASO. The first day counted also as the thirteenth race of the 2017 UCI Women's World Tour. Both races had the same podium; Annemiek van Vleuten () won both races ahead of rider Lizzie Deignan, with the podium being completed each time by 's Elisa Longo Borghini. Annemiek van Vleuten (born 8 October 1982) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Van Vleuten is a two-time winner of both the road race (2019 and 2022) and the time trial (2017 and 2018) at the UCI Road World Championships. In the Olympic Games, she crashed out of the lead of the road race in 2016, before winning the gold medal at the time trial event and a silver in the road race at the COVID-19 pandemic-delayed 2020 Olympics. She won the Dutch National Road Race Championships in 2012, and won the Dutch National Time Trial Championships four times between 2014 and 2019. 2017 Giro D'Italia Femminile
The 2017 Giro d'Italia Femminile, or 2017 Giro Rosa, was the 28th running of the Giro d'Italia Femminile, the only remaining women's Grand Tour. It was held between 30 June and 9 July 2017 as the most prestigious stage race of both the 2017 UCI Women's World Tour and the women's calendar. The race was won for the second time in three years by Olympic and European champion Anna van der Breggen () from the Netherlands, who took the leader's pink jersey after the second stage and maintained the lead for the remainder of the race, taking the overall lead of the UCI Women's World Tour standings in the process. The 2017 Ovo Energy Women's Tour was the fourth staging of The Women's Tour, a women's cycling stage race held in the United Kingdom. It ran from 7 to 11 June 2017, as part of the 2017 UCI Women's World Tour. The race was won by Polish rider Katarzyna Niewiadoma, riding for the team, who as a result, took the lead of the overall Women's World Tour standings. Niewiadoma held the race lead for the duration of the race, after winning the opening stage in Kettering following a solo break of nearly , ultimately winning the race overall by 78 seconds from Luxembourg's Christine Majerus (), who won the points and sprints jerseys after consistent finishing.
