2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships – Men's Team Pursuit
The Men's team pursuit competition at the 2017 World Championships was held on 12 and 13 April 2017. Results Qualifying The fastest 8 teams qualify for the first round, from which the top 4 remain in contention for the gold medal final and the other 4 for the bronze medal final. * Canada were disqualified for breaching article 3.2.097 * Q = qualified; in contention for gold medal final * q = qualified; in contention for bronze medal final First round First round heats are held as follows: Heat 1: 6th v 7th fastest Heat 2: 5th v 8th fastest Heat 3: 2nd v 3rd fastest Heat 4: 1st v 4th fastest The winners of heats 3 and 4 proceeded to the gold medal final. Hong Kong Velodrome
Hong Kong Velodrome is a velodrome in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. It has a 250-metre cycling track and spectator facilities for 3,000 people. It opened on 30 December 2013 next to the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. History The Hong Kong government agreed to build the velodrome after Wong Kam-po won the gold medal for the men's road race in the 2006 Asian Games at Doha, amid concerns that athletes who represent Hong Kong had to rely on training facilities in China. Construction of the HK$1.1 billion venue got the legislative go-ahead in January 2010 and work began two months later. On 5 November 2012, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam kicked off construction of the Tseung Kwan O Velodrome, as it was then known. The velodrome occupies 6.6 hectares, and cycling helmets inspired its wavy rooftop design. Mrs Lam officiated at the ceremony marking the start of construction. Andrew David Tennant (born 9 March 1987) is an English former professional track and road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2021 for six different teams. During his career, Tennant won seven medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, six gold medals at the UEC European Track Championships and a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Kian Emadi-Coffin (born 29 July 1992) is a former British track cyclist. He has represented Great Britain and England at international level, and is a three-time British National Track champion.
