The 2017 Tennessee State Tigers football team represented Tennessee State University as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Tucker Stadium
Tucker Stadium is a 16,500-seat multi-purpose stadium in Cookeville, Tennessee. It is home to the Tennessee Technological University Golden Eagles team, and is named for former coach Wilburn Tucker (1920–1980). The football field is named Overall Field in honor of former coach and administrator P. V. Overall. The stadium opened in 1966 and currently seats 16,500. Tucker Stadium has hosted the TSSAA high school football state championships since 2009. The 2017 Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles football team represented Tennessee Technological University as a member of Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) during the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by Marcus Satterfield in his second and final season as head coach, the Golden Eagles compiled an overall record of 1–10 overall with a mark of 1–7 in conference play, placing last out of nine teams in the OVC. Tennessee Tech played home games at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville, Tennessee. On November 19, Satterfield was fired. He finished his tenure at Tennessee Tech with a two-year record of 6–16. CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium is Eastern Kentucky University's football stadium in Richmond, Kentucky. The stadium is home to the EKU Colonels football team, located on campus. Currently, CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium consists of upper and lower-level seating areas, with a predominant majority of the seats being metal bleachers. Reserved chairback seats can be found in the middle of the lower level, as well, the seats are generally purchased by season ticket holders and Eastern Alumni. John Merritt (American Football)
John Ayers Merritt (January 26, 1926 – December 13, 1983) was a head football coach at Jackson State University and Tennessee State University. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1994. He was born in Falmouth, Kentucky, and is an alumnus of Kentucky State University, where he played guard on the football team from 1947 to 1949. He earned the nickname "Big John". He graduated in 1950 and earned a master's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1952. He coached Jackson State University from 1953 to 1962, where he compiled a record of 63–37–5. Merritt led Jackson State to back-to-back appearances in the Orange Blossom Classic in 1961 and 1962 before being hired by what was then Tennessee A&I.
