2017 North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Soccer Team
The 2017 North Carolina Tar Heels men's soccer team represented the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 2017 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 71st season of the university fielding a program. The Tar Heels played their home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in nearby Cary, North Carolina while Fetzer Field underwent renovations. Carlos Somoano
Carlos Somoano is an American soccer coach, and is currently the head coach of the University of North Carolina men's soccer team. In his first season in charge of the Tar Heels, he led the team to the NCAA championship, becoming the second rookie head coach, after Mike Freitag, in NCAA history to do so. Education Somoano received a Bachelor of Science in biology (concentration in pre-medicine) from Eckerd College in 1992. He also earned four letters in soccer and was a two-year team captain. In 2000, he earned a Master's in Sport Management degree from the University of Richmond. Coaching career In 1992, he started his career as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Eckard College, and he spent four seasons there. In 1996, he moved to Virginia Commonwealth University in an assistant role, serving under Tim Sullivan. South Carolina Gamecocks Men's Soccer
The South Carolina Gamecocks men's soccer team represents the University of South Carolina and, as of the upcoming 2022 college soccer season, competes in the Sun Belt Conference. The team is coached by Tony Annan, who succeeded Mark Berson as head coach after the 2020 season. Berson had been the Gamecocks' only head coach since the program's inception in 1978 and had participated in 20 NCAA Tournaments, reaching the Quarterfinals on four occasions. The Petersen Sports Complex (PSC) is a multi-sport athletic facility on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It houses Charles L. Cost Field, Vartabedian Field, and Ambrose Urbanic Field, the respective home practice and competition venues of the university's NCAA Division I varsity athletic baseball, softball, and men's and women's soccer teams. Pittsburgh Panthers men's soccer is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's soccer (association football) team of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
