The 2017 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 59th season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. The regular season began on August 25 and continued into the first weekend of November 2017. The season culminated with the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship and the four-team College Cup finals at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania, December 8–10. There were 205 teams in men's Division I competition. The two-time defending champions, the Stanford Cardinal, won their third consecutive championship by downing the previously undefeated Indiana Hoosiers 1–0 in double overtime. Evansville Purple Aces Men's Soccer
The Evansville Purple Aces men's soccer team represents the University of Evansville in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) of NCAA Division I soccer. The Purple Aces play their home matches on Black Beauty Field at Arad McCutchan Stadium on the north end of the university's campus in Evansville, Indiana. The team is currently coached by Marshall Ray. History The program began in 1974, under head coach Bill Vieth. Since then, the Purple Aces have made the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament 11 times. 1985 Evansville first made the Final Four in 1985, under head coach Fred Schmalz. After going 21-1-2 in the regular season, the Purple Aces qualified for the NCAA tournament, a feat the program has accomplished twice up to this point. The Cal Poly Mustangs men's soccer program represents the Cal Poly Mustangs of California Polytechnic State University in men's soccer at the NCAA Division I level. Like most teams from Cal Poly, they play in the Big West Conference. Their first season as a varsity program was in 1973. The 2017 Indiana Hoosiers men's soccer team was the represented Indiana University during the 2017 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the Hoosiers' 45th season of varsity college soccer, and their 27th season in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers finished as runners-up for both the Big Ten regular season, the 2017 Big Ten Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, and the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.
