2017 NA LCS Season
The 2017 NA LCS season was the fifth year of the League of Legends Championship Series, North American ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (NA LCS), a professional esports league for the Multiplayer online battle arena, MOBA PC game ''League of Legends''. It was divided into spring and summer splits, each consisting of a regular season and playoff stage, and also included a promotion tournament and a regional qualifiers for the League of Legends World Championship, World Championship. To qualify for the World Championship, a team must either be the summer champions, have the most championship points, or win the regional qualifier. The three teams that qualified for the 2017 League of Legends World Championship, 2017 World Championship in these ways were Team SoloMid, Immortals (esports), Immortals and Cloud9 League of Legends, Cloud9, respectively. League Of Legends Championship Series
The League Championship Series (LCS) is the top level of professional ''League of Legends'' in the United States and Canada. The esports league is run by Riot Games and has ten franchise teams. Each annual season of competition is divided into two splits, spring and summer, which conclude with a double-elimination tournament between the top eight teams. At the end of the season, the winner, runners-up and third-place team of the summer playoffs qualify for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. With the exception of some touring events, all games of the LCS are played live at Riot Games' studios in Los Angeles, California. In addition to a small studio audience, all games are streamed live in several languages on Twitch and YouTube, with broadcasts regularly attracting over 300,000 viewers. Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) is an American esports organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in April 2010 by George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis and Alexander "Vodoo" Beutel as a ''League of Legends'' team, and has since branched out into other games. CLG fields the oldest ''League of Legends'' team still active, having competed in every split of the North American ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (NA LCS) since it began in Spring 2013. CLG has won two NA LCS splits, the 2015 Summer NA LCS and 2016 Spring NA LCS. Zachary Scuderi, better known as Sneaky, is a professional ''League of Legends'' player, Video game live streaming, streamer, and crossplay (cosplay), crossplayer. He played AD Carry for Cloud9 League of Legends, Cloud9 of the League of Legends Championship Series North America until 2019. He won the 2013 Summer NA LCS and 2014 Spring NA LCS with Cloud9. Scuderi is also known for his cosplays of anime and video game characters. Sneaky became an independent full-time Video game live streaming, streamer on Twitch (service), Twitch, leaving the professional scene in January 2020. However, despite not playing professionally, he has stated that he is not retired. Nicolaj Jensen, better known mononymously as Jensen, is a Danish professional ''League of Legends'' player for Cloud9. Earlier in his career, he was known as Veigodx and Incarnati0n. Jensen began as a player for Team Solo Mebdi, a team attempting to enter the European LCS via qualifier. He was banned for toxicity and DDOS attacks against other players. After his ban was lifted, Incarnati0n joined NA LCS team Cloud9 in 2015, replacing founding mid laner and strategist Hai on the roster, who had announced his retirement. In 2019, he joined Doublelift and former teammate Impact on Team Liquid. He was released from Team Liquid after the 2021 season in favor of his rival Bjergsen, who took over his position on Team Liquid. In 2022, he has since rejoined Cloud9. Jeong Eon-yeong ( ko, 정언영), better known as Impact, is a South Korean ''League of Legends'' player for FlyQuest of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). Impact won the Season 3 League of Legends World Championship as a member of SK Telecom T1 K. He played for both Team Impulse and NRG Esports in the LCS, before transferring to Cloud9 in May 2016. Impact left Cloud9 after the 2017 season and joined Team Liquid, where he won four LCS titles before departing the team for Evil Geniuses after the end of the 2020 season. Career Xenics Storm Impact began his career as a support player for Xenics Storm in 2012, and the team managed to place third in spring. Kim Chan-ho (Hangul: 김찬호) better known as Ssumday, is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for 100 Thieves of the League Championship Series (LCS). Ssumday began his professional career in Korea on KT Rolster as their toplaner, before moving to North America where he spent a year with Team Dignitas, after which he signed with 100 Thieves in 2018. Ssumday won his first domestic championship in 2021 after eight splits with the team. Professional career KT Rolster Ssumday joined KT Rolster Bullets in early 2013 as their toplaner. The team had moderate success, placing third in Winter and second in Summer of the 2013 season. In 2014, KT Bullets took another third-place finish in Winter, but had no further success. Career Wang's gaming career began in the NA Challenger Series, playing for teams such as Team Frostbite, Vortex and Dream Team. Following the departure of YellOwStaR after the 2016 NA LCS Spring Split, Wang tried out for Team SoloMid's vacant support position. Yiliang "Peter" Peng (), better known as Doublelift, is an American content creator, streamer, and professional ''League of Legends'' player, currently AD Carry for 100 Thieves. He previously played for Counter Logic Gaming, Team Liquid and Team SoloMid. Career Peng comes from California, and started playing console games before jumping to PC titles such as DotA, World of Warcraft, and Heroes of Newerth, eventually moving to League of Legends. Kevin Yarnell, better known by his in-game name Hauntzer, is a professional ''League of Legends'' player who is currently a free agent, and was most recently a part of TSM Academy as their toplaner. He has also played for Team SoloMid, Golden Guardians, and Gravity Gaming in the League of Legends Championship Series. Career Curse Academy left Team Curse and rebranded as Gravity Gaming in January 2015 upon qualifying for the LCS. In April, Gravity was at the top of the NA LCS rankings in part due to the play of Hauntzer. Zaqueri Black (born September 8, 1992), better known by his in-game name Aphromoo, is an American professional ''League of Legends'' player who is the support for FlyQuest. Aphromoo won the 2018 Spring Split MVP award, the first time it had gone to a support player. Career Aphromoo played for a number of teams in the early years of professional ''League'' from 2011 to 2012. During this period, he also played the AD Carry bottom lane position.
