2017 Big South Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2017 Big South women's basketball tournament was a postseason women's basketball tournament for the Big South Conference that took place March 9–12, 2017, at the Vines Center in Lynchburg, Virginia. All rounds after 1st were broadcast on ESPN3, 1st Round on Big South Network. UNC Asheville won their 3rd Big South tournament title and earns an automatic big to the NCAA women's tournament. Vines Center
The Vines Convocation Center, also known as simply The Vines Center, is a 9,547-seat multi-purpose arena in Lynchburg, Virginia. It was built in 1990 and was home to the Liberty University Flames (men's) and Lady Flames (women's) basketball teams from its opening until the adjacent Liberty Arena opened in 2020. The Vines Center features three practice courts (1.5 each for men's and women's basketball), four spacious locker rooms, a weight room, a training room, men's and women's basketball team rooms, a team dining room, basketball coaches offices, a built-in TV studio, a center-hung scoreboard and a suite atop the seating bowl. Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick Brown (born June 21, 1978) is an American college basketball coach. Since 2022, she has been the head coach for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers women's basketball team. Career She was previously the head coach of the University of North Carolina at Asheville women's basketball team from 2012 to 2020. 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2017 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was played from Friday, March 17 to Sunday, April 2, 2017, with the Final Four played at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on March 31 and April 2. This was the first time that the women's Final Four was played in Dallas and the first time since 2002 that the Final Four games were played on Friday and Sunday, rather than Sunday and Tuesday. South Carolina defeated Mississippi State to win the championship. Tennessee continued its record streak of making every NCAA women's basketball tournament at 36 consecutive appearances. 2017 Big South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2017 Big South men's basketball tournament was the conference tournament for the Big South Conference. It was played between February 28, 2017 and March 5, 2017 at various campus sites. Winthrop defeated Campbell, 76–59, to win the tournament championship and receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Sites The first round was played at campus sites at the home of the higher seed. The quarterfinals and semifinals were played at No. 1-seeded Winthrop's Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The championship game was held at the home of the highest remaining seed, Winthrop's Winthrop Coliseum. Seeds All 10 conference teams were eligible for the tournament. The top six teams receive a first round bye. Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records.
