2016–17 Washington Huskies Women's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Washington Huskies women's basketball team represented University of Washington during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Huskies, led by fourth year head coach Mike Neighbors, played their home games at Alaska Airlines Arena and were members of the Pac-12 Conference. In the final regular season game for the Huskies on February 25, 2017, Kelsey Plum scored a Pac-12 record 57 points in an 84–77 win over Utah to set NCAA Division I women's basketball career scoring record. They finished the season 29–6, 15–3 in Pac-12 play to finish in a tie for second place. They were upset by the 10 seed Oregon in the quarterfinals of Pac-12 women's tournament. They received an at-large bid of the NCAA women's tournament where they defeated Montana State and Oklahoma in the first and second rounds before losing to Mississippi State in the sweet sixteen. Mike Neighbors
Michael Earl Neighbors (born March 29, 1969) is an American college basketball coach. He is currently head coach of the women's basketball team at the University of Arkansas. He moved to Arkansas, his alma mater, in 2017, after four years as head coach at the University of Washington. Early years Neighbors was born and raised in Greenwood, Arkansas, where he played basketball at Greenwood High School. His family was very involved in the school system, as teachers, school secretaries, assistant superintendent and superintendent positions. Neighbors completed his associate degree at Westark Community College (now the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith) in 1989 and bachelor's degree at the University of Arkansas in 1993. Del Oro High School is located in Loomis, California, and is a part of the Placer Union High School District. Del Oro High School opened for the instruction of freshmen and sophomores on September 28, 1959, one week after Colfax opened. It was founded in 1958 and currently has over 1600 students attending. Mater Dei High School is a private, Catholic, co-educational secondary school in Santa Ana, California. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. Mater Dei is known for its strong sports programs, especially in football, and for its multiple graduates who have won the Heisman Trophy.
