2016–17 Sacramento State Hornets Women's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Sacramento State Hornets women's basketball team represented California State University, Sacramento during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Hornets, led by fourth year head coach Bunky Harkleroad and played their home games at Hornets Nest. They were members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 10–20, 6–12 in Big Sky play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the Big Sky Women's Tournament where they lost to Weber State. The Sacramento State Hornets women's basketball team is the basketball team that represent California State University, Sacramento in Sacramento, California. The school's team currently competes in the Big Sky Conference. History Sacramento State began play in 1976. They joined Division I in 1991. They played in the North Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NCIAC) for their first season before playing in the GSC from 1977 to 1981. They joined the NCAC in 1981, playing until 1985 before becoming an Independent. They joined the American West Conference in 1994. They joined the Big Sky Conference in 1996. The first postseason appearance for the Hornets was the 2015 Women's National Invitation Tournament, where they made the Third Round. Deer Valley High School in Antioch, California, is a public secondary school serving southeast Antioch in Contra Costa County, California. It opened in 1996 In 2007, the Antioch Unified School District named Scott Bergerhouse and Clarence Isadore co-principals. The co-principal model has previously been implemented in some larger schools in southern California. In February 2010, Deer Valley and the rest of the AUSD schools were informed that they would issue a uniform policy in the second semester of the 2010-2011 school year. State Fair Community College is a public community college in Sedalia, Missouri, adjacent to the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Portland State Vikings is the nickname of the NCAA-affiliated, intercollegiate athletic teams representing Portland State University of Portland, Oregon. The Vikings compete at the NCAA Division I level in basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, tennis, softball, indoor and outdoor track and field, and cross country.
