2016–17 Reading F.C. Season
The 2016–17 season was Reading's 146th year in existence and fourth consecutive season in the Championship, and covers the period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017. Reading finished 3rd in the league, qualifying for the play-offs, eventually losing to Huddersfield Town in the final on penalties. Season review Pre-season On 26 May, Reading announced a pre-season friendly against local rivals Swindon Town on 19 July, and against Boreham Wood on 3 July. The following day the club released manager Brian McDermott of his duties, whilst also announcing a pre-season friendly against Premier League side Bournemouth. On 31 May, Reading announced their fourth pre-season friendly, an away trip to Lincoln City on July 16, 2016. On 13 June, Reading announced Jaap Stam as their new manager, replacing Brian McDermott who was fired at the end of May. Boreham is a village and civil parish, in Essex, England. The parish is in the City of Chelmsford and Chelmsford Parliament constituency. The village is approximately northeast from the county town of Chelmsford. History Boreham is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as ''Borham'', thought to mean 'village on a hill'. Local legend holds that highwayman Dick Turpin rode down the route than now forms part of the A12 on his famous ride from London to York, although historians now believe the ride never occurred. Yeovil ( ) is a town and civil parish in the district of South Somerset, England. The population of Yeovil at the last census (2011) was 45,784. More recent estimates show a population of 48,564. 2016–17 EFL Trophy
The 2016–17 EFL Trophy, known as the Checkatrade Trophy for sponsorship reasons, was the 33rd season in the history of the competition and the first since being rebranded from Football League Trophy. It was played as a knock-out tournament for English football clubs in League One and League Two of the English football system and for the first time was expanded to include 16 Premier League and Championship "B Teams" with Category One status as part of a trial. In all, 64 clubs entered the competition. Barnsley were the reigning champions, but were ineligible to defend their title following promotion to the Championship. Al Taawoun Football Club ( ar, التعاون, lit=Cooperation) is a professional multi-sports club based in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. The Association football, football team competes in the Saudi Professional League, the top tier of Football in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Football.
