2016–17 Oregon State Beavers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Oregon State Beavers men's basketball team represented Oregon State University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Beavers were led by third-year head coach Wayne Tinkle, and played their home games at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 5–27, 1–17 in Pac-12 play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to California. Previous season The Beavers finished the 2015–16 season 19–13, 9–9 in Pac-12 play to finish in a three-way tie for sixth place. They defeated Arizona State in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament before losing to California in the quarterfinals. Wayne Tinkle
Wayne Francis Tinkle II (born January 26, 1966) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the Oregon State Beavers men's team of the Pac-12 Conference. Prior to his arrival in Corvallis in 2014, he was the head coach for eight seasons in the Big Sky Conference at his alma mater, Montana, preceded by five years with the Griz as an assistant coach. Tinkle played professionally for twelve seasons until 2000, including stints in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and International Basketball League (IBL) and in Sweden, Spain, Italy, and Greece. Early life and college Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tinkle's family moved to Spokane, Washington, and he graduated from Ferris High School in 1984. 1990 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1990 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of NCAA Division I men's college basketball. It began on March 15, 1990, and ended with the championship game on April 2 in Denver, Colorado. A total of 63 games were played. UNLV, coached by Jerry Tarkanian, won the national title with a 103–73 victory in the final game over Duke, coached by Mike Krzyzewski. In doing so, UNLV set the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament record for largest margin of victory in a championship game. Milwaukie, Oregon
Milwaukie is a city mostly in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States; a very small portion of the city extends into Multnomah County. The population was 20,291 at the 2010 census. Olaf Schaftenaar (born 15 May 1993) is a Dutch professional basketball player for Donar of the BNXT League. He played collegiately with Oregon State before returning to the Netherlands to play professionally for Landstede Hammers. Schaftenaar also plays for the Netherlands national team.
