2016–17 New Zealand Women's Twenty20 Competition
The 2016–17 New Zealand Women's Twenty20 Competition was the tenth season of the women's Twenty20 cricket competition played in New Zealand. It ran from November 2016 to February 2017, with 6 provincial teams taking part. Otago Sparks beat Canterbury Magicians in the final to claim their first Twenty20 title. The tournament ran alongside the 2016–17 New Zealand Women's One-Day Competition. Competition format Teams played in a round-robin in a group of six, playing 5 matches overall. Matches were played using a Twenty20 format. The top two in the group advanced to the final. The group worked on a points system with positions being based on the total points. Central Districts Hinds
The Central Hinds are the women's representative cricket team of the Central Districts Cricket Association, based in central New Zealand. They play their home games at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, McLean Park, Napier, Fitzherbert Park, Palmerston North, Saxton Oval, Nelson and other CDCA home venues. They compete in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition and the Women's Super Smash Twenty20 competition. Anna Peterson (cricketer)
Anna Michelle Peterson (born 12 September 1990) is a New Zealand former cricketer who played as an all-rounder, batting right-handed and bowling right-arm off break. She appeared in 32 One Day Internationals and 33 Twenty20 Internationals for New Zealand between 2012 and 2020. She played domestic cricket for Northern Districts, Auckland and Typhoons. She was the first cricketer for New Zealand to take a hat-trick in a Women's Twenty20 International. Katie Perkins
Katie Teresa Perkins (born 7 July 1988) is a New Zealand former cricketer who played as a right-handed batter. She appeared in 73 One Day Internationals and 55 Twenty20 Internationals for New Zealand between 2012 and 2020. She played domestic cricket for Auckland, as well as playing one match for Adelaide Strikers. In 2013, she graduated as a police constable from the Royal New Zealand Police College. Natalie Dodd
Natalie Claire Dodd (born 22 November 1992, in Hamilton) is a New Zealand cricketer who has represented New Zealand in women's one-day internationals. She made her international debut in 2010 as a teenager in year 12 at Waikato Diocesan School. Career A prolific top order batsman, Dodd started playing cricket when she was around 10 and quickly developed her skills and made her first rep side at age 11 when selected for the Northern Districts under-14 team. She now is a teacher and spent some years teaching at Te Kowhai school in the Waikato. She currently works at Korakonui School as she has done since 2016. After more than a decade with Northern Spirit, in July 2018 Dodd switched to the Central Hinds to reinvigorate her career. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Kim Cotton (born 24 February 1978) is a New Zealand cricket umpire. In August 2018, she stood in matches in the 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 East Asia-Pacific Qualifier tournament, and the following month was added to the Development Panel of ICC Umpires. In October 2018, she was named as one of the twelve on-field umpires for the 2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20. In May 2019, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named her as one of the eight women on the ICC Development Panel of Umpires. Rangiora is the largest town and seat of the Waimakariri District, in Canterbury, New Zealand. It is north of Christchurch, and is part of the Christchurch metropolitan area. Rangiora Recreation Ground (also known as the MainPower Oval through a sponsorship deal with local company MainPower) is a cricket ground in Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand, Canterbury, New Zealand. Kate Heffernan
Kate Alexandra Heffernan (born 7 October 1999) is a New Zealand netball international and former cricketer. She represented the New Zealand national netball team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2023 Netball World Cup. She captained New Zealand at the 2024 Netball Nations Cup. In 2018, she also made two appearances for the New Zealand women's national cricket team. Amy Ella Satterthwaite (born 7 October 1986) is a New Zealand former cricketer who played as an all-rounder, batting left-handed and bowling either right-arm medium or off break. Suzannah Wilson Bates (born 16 September 1987) is a New Zealand cricketer and former captain of national women cricket team. Born at Dunedin, she plays domestic cricket for the Otago Sparks, as well as playing for the White Ferns. She currently holds the highest score and highest batting average in the New Zealand Women's Twenty20 cricket team. She won the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year 2013.
