2016–17 Morecambe F.C. Season
The 2016–17 season was Morecambe's tenth consecutive season in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. Cole Stockton
Cole John Stockton (born 13 March 1994) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for League One club Burton Albion. A physical forward, he has good finishing skills with his right-foot. Stockton overcame a serious bout of septicaemia and began his career at Tranmere Rovers. He made his debut in senior football on loan at Vauxhall Motors during the 2011–12 season and turned professional at Tranmere in April 2012. He spent the 2015–16 season on loan at Southport and Morecambe, and also spent the first half of the 2016–17 campaign on loan at Morecambe. He returned to Tranmere and helped the club to reach the play-off final, where they were beaten by Forest Green Rovers. Richard Peniket
Richard James Peniket (born 4 March 1993) is a footballer who plays for Gulf United as a forward. Playing career Walsall Peniket was born in Stourbridge, West Midlands, and began his football career with Walsall. Fulham In 2009, despite interest from Manchester United, Peniket joined Fulham. In June 2010, Peniket signed his first professional contract, keeping him until 2013. In October 2011, Peniket joined League Two club Hereford on a one-month loan, later extended until the end of the season. He made his Football League debut in the 2–1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers on 10 January 2012, replacing Delroy Facey for the last twelve minutes of the match. Tom Ashley Denton (born 24 July 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Guiseley A.F.C. in the Northern Premier League. Career Wakefield Born in Shepley, West Yorkshire, Denton began his career playing for non-League side Wakefield in 2006 at the age of 17. Morecambe
Morecambe ( ) is a seaside town and civil parish in the City of Lancaster district in Lancashire, England. It is in Morecambe Bay on the Irish Sea. Name The first use of the name was by John Whitaker in his ''History of Manchester'' (1771), when he refers to the "æstury of Moricambe". It next appears four years later in ''Antiquities of Furness'', where the bay is described as "the Bay of Morecambe". That name is derived from the Roman name ''Moriancabris Æsturis'' shown on maps prepared for them by ''Claudius Ptolemœus'' (Ptolemy) from his original Greek maps. At this distance in time it is impossible to say if the name was originally derived from an earlier language (e.g. Celtic language) or from Greek. The Latin version describes the fourth inlet north from Wales on the west coast of England as Moriancabris Æsturis.
