2016–17 Liga Panameña De Fútbol Season
The 2016–17 Liga Panameña de Fútbol season (also known as the Liga Cable Onda) was the 27th season of top-flight football in Panama. The season began on 2016 and was scheduled to end in May 2017. Ten teams competed throughout the entire season. Teams Atlético Chiriquí finished in 10th place in the overall table last season and were relegated to the Liga Nacional de Ascenso. Taking their place for this season are the overall champions of last season's Liga Nacional de Ascenso Santa Gema. Liga Panameña De Fútbol
The Liga Panameña de Fútbol (LPF) ( en, Panamanian Football League) is the top division football league in Panama. Until 2009, the league was named ''Asociación Nacional Pro Fútbol (ANAPROF)''. Competition format The league's season is divided into two tournaments called the Apertura and Clausura. Teams are divided into two Conferences (Eastern and Western). The Eastern Conference is composed by: Tauro, Plaza Amador, Alianza, Club Deportivo del Este, Arabe Unido, and Sporting San Miguelito, while the Western Conference is composed by: Herrera FC, Club Atletico Independiente, Veraguas, Club Universitario, Chiriqui, and San Francisco. José Anthony Torres
José Mario Anthony Torres (born 27 August 1972) is a Panamanian former football defender. He is currently manager of Sporting San Miguelito. Club career Nicknamed ''Chalate'', Torres has had a lengthy career abroad playing for Honduran sides like Platense and Arsenal Roatán. He left Platense after seven years for Real España in summer 2003. In January 2004 he left Real España after he refused to take up Honduran citizenship which the club asked him to bypass the foreign player quota. San Miguelito is a city and district (''distrito'') of Panamá Province in Panama. Estadio Agustín ''Muquita'' Sánchez is a football stadium in Panamá Oeste Province, Panama which hosts Liga Panameña de Fútbol teams San Francisco and Independiente, as well as other teams and local competitions from the La Chorrera district.
