The 2016–17 season was FC Midtjylland's 17th consecutive season in the Danish Superliga. FC Midtjylland
FC Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast in the western part of Jutland. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won three times, most recently in 2020. Club history FC Midtjylland was founded by Johnny Rune, a carpenter and owner of a private business in the wood-supply industry, and Steen Hessel, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. The two men wanted to unite the football clubs Ikast FS (founded 1935) and Herning Fremad (founded 1918) – clubs that for decades had been strong rivals, but had never played any significant role in Danish football. Rasmus Nissen Kristensen (; born 11 July 1997) is a Danish professional Association football, footballer who plays as a right-back for club Leeds United F.C., Leeds United and the Denmark national football team, Denmark national team. Andreas Poulsen (born 13 October 1999) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Danish Superliga club AaB. Club career FC Midtjylland Poulsen started his career in the local football club, Ikast KFUM. He made his professional debut in the Danish Superliga for FC Midtjylland on 1 December 2016 in a game against Silkeborg IF, where he played the whole game on the left back. André Rømer
André Ibsen Rømer (born 18 July 1993) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Danish Superliga club Randers FC. Career Midtjylland Rømer started playing football for Køge Boldklub alongside his brother Marcel, before moving to the FC Midtjylland academy as a 15-year-old. In March 2012, Rømer signed a five-year contract with Midtjylland, and he was permanently promoted to the first team. He made his debut on 26 September 2012 in a 1–0 win over Rishøj Boldklub in the Danish Cup. Kristian Dirks Riis (born 17 February 1997) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Danish Superliga club Lyngby Boldklub. Club career Early career Riis started career at the local club Haderslev FK. Later, he joined SønderjyskE, playing there until 2011, before joining FC Midtjylland at the age of 15 in 2011. Markus Halsti (born 19 March 1984) is a Finnish professional football defender and midfielder. Club career In Finland Starting his career in FC Viikingit before moving to HJK in the Finnish top league in 2003, he debuted in 2003. His 2005 season ended badly with a serious injury in the middle of the season. Same injury came later in the beginning of 2007 when he again missed half of the season due to this fracture in his right leg. Marc Dal Hende (; born 6 November 1990) is a Danish professional footballer who plays for Danish Superliga club SønderjyskE. Career On 1 December 2009, Dal Hende signed a one-and-a-half year contract with Viborg FF after having played for the FC Copenhagen reserve team in the Danish third tier. Kian H. Hansen (born 3 March 1989) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for FC Nordsjælland. Club career Hansen has played for Esbjerg the most part of his career, having been promoted to the first team in 2008.
