2016–17 England Hockey League Season
The 2016–2017 English Hockey League season took place from September 2016 until April 2017. The regular season consisted of two periods September until December and then February until March. The end of season playoffs known as the League Finals Weekend was held on 22 & 23 April. Surbiton won the Men's Premier League title despite being 3-0 down in the final against Wimbledon with only 10mins to go. Surbiton also won the Investec Women's Premier League as well as finishing top of the regular season league standings, making it their 4th in a row. Whilst Canterbury finished one off the bottom and survived the relegation playoffs for the 3rd time in a row as Loughborough Students were relegated having just got up into the top flight last season. Sevenoaks beat Team Bath Buccaneers and Durham University to secure promotion and go up to the top flight next season in the men's competition. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. Beeston Hockey Club
Beeston Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Beeston, England. The club was founded in 1907, and plays its home games at the Nottingham Hockey Centre in Nottingham. Beeston is nicknamed ''the Bees''. The men's 1st XI plays in the Men's England Hockey League and the ladies 1st XI in the Women's England Hockey League. The majority of the other teams compete in the Midlands League. The large club fields six men's sides, seven ladies sides and various junior sides. Giselle Ansley
Giselle Anne Ansley, (born 31 March 1992) is an English field hockey player who plays as a defender in the Dutch Hoofdklasse for HGC and the England and Great Britain national teams. Ansley was educated at Churston Ferrers Grammar School, Brixham, Devon. She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to hockey. Club career Ansley plays club hockey in the Dutch Hoofdklasse for HGC. She previously played club hockey in the Women's England Hockey League Premier Division for Surbiton. The women's first XI play in the Women's England Hockey League (the second highest league in England). The men's first XI play in the London Premier Division. Bromley & Beckenham Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Foxgrove Road, Beckenham. It is a combination of two former London clubs Bromley and Beckenham. Havant Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Havant, Hampshire, England. The club was established in 1907. The men's 1st XI play in the National Men's Conference West. The club fields men's teams and ladies' teams as well as a junior section teams. Many of the club's players have gone on to earn international caps at both senior and junior level. 2016–17 Euro Hockey League
The 2016–17 Euro Hockey League was the tenth season of the Euro Hockey League, Europe's premier club field hockey tournament organized by the EHF. Round One was held in Banbridge, Northern Ireland. the round of 16 and quarterfinals in Eindhoven, Netherlands and the semi-finals, third place game and the final were held in Brasschaat, Belgium.
