The 2016–17 Detroit Red Wings season was the 91st season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. It was the Red Wings' final season at Joe Louis Arena before their move to Little Caesars Arena for the 2017–18 season. This season also marked the end of the Red Wings playoff streak at 25 consecutive seasons, and was their first losing season since 1990–91. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League has used the name Atlantic Division for two distinct groups of teams. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The Atlantic Division name was assigned to a new division comprising the entirety of the former Northeast Division plus the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning (coincidentally, both were members of the original Atlantic Division until 1998) from the now-dissolved Southeast Division, and the Detroit Red Wings, who moved from the Central Division of the Western Conference. The 2016–17 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the 50th season for the National Hockey League ice hockey team that was established on June 5, 1967. Shawn Horcoff
Shawn Paul Horcoff (born September 17, 1978) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He was selected in the fourth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, 99th overall, by the Edmonton Oilers, with whom he played 11 seasons and served as team captain during three seasons. He currently serves as the assistant general manager for the Detroit Red Wings and as the general manager of their American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. Playing career Amateur Horcoff played his first college season with Michigan State University, in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), in 1996. John Torchetti
John Torchetti (born July 9, 1964) is a former American ice hockey player and coach, currently serving as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Flyers. Torchetti has been an interim head coach in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Florida Panthers, the Los Angeles Kings, and Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League (NHL). Torchetti has served as the head coach for the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (2002–2003), the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL (2006–2007), and the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (2014–2016). Jim Bedard (ice Hockey, Born 1956)
James Arthur Bédard (born November 17, 1956) is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender. He was most recently the goaltending coach for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Career Originally drafted in 1976 by the Washington Capitals, Bédard played for parts of two seasons with the Capitals. After playing two seasons in the minor leagues, Bédard signed to play in the Finnish SM-liiga, After two seasons with HC TPS, he played in Finland for 12 seasons more, mostly in lower divisions, before finally retiring in 1994. After his playing career, he served as the goaltending coach with the Detroit Red Wings for 19 seasons. He had won three Stanley Cups with Detroit in 1998, 2002 and 2008. Doug Houda
Douglas Harold Houda (born June 3, 1966) is a Canadian former National Hockey League (NHL) defenceman and current assistant coach of the New York Islanders. He was a former assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL. He was drafted in the second round, 28th overall, by the Red Wings in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Little Caesars Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Midtown Detroit.
