2016–17 Czech 1. Liga Season
The 2016–17 Czech 1. liga season was the 23rd season of the Czech 1. liga, the second level of ice hockey in the Czech Republic. 14 teams participated in the league. Motor České Budějovice and HC Dukla Jihlava have won this season of the league, HC Dukla Jihlava succeeded in the Extraliga qualification. HC Most was relegated to the Czech 2. liga after 6 years in the Czech 1. Liga. They have been replaced by HC Karlovy Vary, who have been demoted from the Czech Extraliga. Format 14 teams compete in the league, with the top 6 teams at the end of the regular season play qualifying for the playoffs. The teams that finish 7th through 10th play a play-in series (best-of-five) to determine who will join the top six into the playoff quarter-finals (best-of-seven). No final is played. Hockey Club Frýdek-Místek is a professional ice hockey club from Frýdek-Místek, Czech Republic. It was founded in 1976. The 2017–18 Czech Extraliga season was the 25th season of the Czech Extraliga since its creation after the breakup of Czechoslovakia and the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League in 1993. HC Dynamo Pardubice
HC Dynamo Pardubice is a professional ice hockey club that plays in the Czech Extraliga. Its home venue is Enteria arena located in Pardubice. The club was originally named LTC Pardubice, acquiring its current name at the start of the 2015–16 season. History Ice hockey has been played in Pardubice since the beginning of the 20th century. Hockey's beginnings in Pardubice can be traced to the Matiční jezero where bandy, a hockey-like game, was played. This style of hockey was adopted from football – there were 11 players, opposing goals, a ball, and a football-like field. The first match of ice hockey was played in 1913 on the very same lake. AZ Havířov
AZ Heimstaden Havířov is an ice hockey team in the Czech Second Hockey League (third-tier league) from Havířov. The city of Havířov was established in 1955. However the beginnings of ice hockey in surrounding villages date back to 1928, when workers began to skate on local ponds after their shift. The hockey club was registered in 1931 as KČT Lazy, named after the Lazy Coal Mine. In 1966 the club moved to Havířov and was given the name AZ Havířov after Antonín Zápotocký Coal Mine. In 1992 the club was promoted to the second level league. In 1999 the club bought the Extraliga license from Slezan Opava. In the 2002/2003 season Havířov lost the relegation play-off against HC Kladno and was relegated to the First National Hockey League. HC Stadion Litoměřice
HC Stadion Litoměřice is an ice hockey team from Litoměřice, Czech Republic. The team was founded in 2007, however, there was a different team in Litoměřice, operating from the 1970s up to the 1990s. They began in the Czech Second League. They won the league in the 2009-2010 season, and were thus promoted to the First League. In 2012, the team became an affiliate of HC Sparta Praha, an Extraliga team, and their partnership ended in 2015. That same year, Stadion became an affiliate of Mountfield HK.
