D'banj
Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (born 9 June 1980), better known by his stage name D'banj, is a Nigerian singer and rapper and the founder of Mo' Hits Records with producer Don Jazzy. He has won several music awards, including the awards for ''Best African Act'' at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, ''Artist of the Year'' at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009, Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards, and Best-selling African Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards, Evolution award at the 2015 MTV Africa Music awards Oyebanjo adopted the stage name D'banj, a combination of his first name, Dapo, and his surname, Oyebanjo. Legacy (Myrath Album)
''Legacy'' is the fourth studio album by Tunisian progressive metal band Myrath, released on 19 February 2016. The name of the album is also the name of the band when translated to English. As the band prepared it, they were already thinking of its successor ''Shehili''. According to them, songs from both efforts are connected. It was originally planned for a 12 February release. The song "Believer" was described as "an anthem for those who doubt, who are scared, who want to give up, who suffer." Following a crowdfunding campaign, the band spent € 45,000 to hire two ''Game of Thrones'' producers for the track's video. They initially wanted to create something that strayed from what they called Tunisian "clichés", but after receiving no replies from the local government with regards to authorization to shoot images in certain locations, they changed their concept. Issa Bagayogo
Issa Bagayogo (1961 – 10 October 2016) was a Malian musician. He released four full-length albums all under the record label Six Degrees Records. Bagayogo lent his voice and played the kamele n'goni (a six-stringed West African instrument similar to a banjo) while Yves Wernert was the producer and keyboardist. Bagayogo died after a long illness on 10 October 2016. Johan Botha (19 August 1965 – 8 September 2016) was a South African operatic tenor. Life and career Born in Rustenburg, South Africa, Botha began his vocal training with Jarmilla Tellenger from the age of 10 through 17. He then served for two years in the South African Air Force before pursuing further studies in Pretoria with Eric Muller. His voice initially was trained as a bass-baritone and his first opera performance was portraying the title role in a student production of Verdi's ''Falstaff''. As his studies progressed under Muller his voice moved towards that of a tenor. In 1990 he moved to Europe and became a longtime pupil of Irmgard Hartmann. Botha made his professional stage debut at the municipal theatre in Roodepoort as Max in ''Der Freischütz'' in 1989. He then became a member of the opera chorus at the Bayreuth Festival in 1990. Harry Rabinowitz
Harry Rabinowitz MBE (26 March 1916 – 22 June 2016) was a South African-British conductor and composer of film and television music. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, he was the son of Israel and Eva Rabinowitz. He was educated at the University of the Witwatersrand and at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Career Rabinowitz's musical career began as a six-week stint playing sheet music for potential customers in a Johannesburg department store. His first job conducting an orchestra was for a show called ''Strike a New Note'' in 1945, using a rolled-up newspaper as a baton. Rabinowitz left Johannesburg for England in 1946 to study conducting. Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba (14 June 1949 – 24 April 2016), known professionally as Papa Wemba (), was a Congolese singer and musician who played Congolese rumba, soukous, and ndombolo.
