2016 Women's Cape Town Summer Series
The 2016 Cape Town Summer Series was the first edition of the women's field hockey friendly series, comprising a number of test matches between the national teams of Germany, India, Scotland and the hosts, South Africa. The series was held at Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town, from 20 February to 5 March. Germany finished in first place, topping the pool at the conclusion of the matches. Deep Grace Ekka (born 3 June 1994) is an Indian female field hockey player. She plays for the Indian Women's Hockey Team. She has been selected for Arjun award in 2022. Early life Deep Grace Ekka was born on 3 June 1994 in a small village called Lulkidhi in the Sundergarh district of Odisha. She is the daughter of Charles and Jayamani Ekka. She started playing hockey in school and was coached by Tej Kumar Xess (2005–06). During a round of hockey selections at her school, she was selected to join the SAI-SAG centre of the Sports Authority of India in September 2007 and started playing at state level at the age of 13. Lydia Haase (born 7 September 1986) is a former German field hockey player, who played as a forward. Personal life Lydia Haase was born and raised in Leipzig. Haase works as a teacher at Baulandschule Hettingen, an elementary school in Buchen. His sister Mandy also is an international hockey player. Career Under–21 In 2006, Haase was a member of the Germany U–21 team at the EuroHockey Junior Championship in Catania. At the tournament, Germany won a gold medal. Anuradha Devi Thokchom (born 2 February 1989 at Toubul, Manipur, India) is a member of the Indian women's national field hockey team.
