2016 United Women's Soccer Season
The 2016 United Women's Soccer season is the 22nd season of pro-am women's soccer in the United States, and the 1st season of the new UWS league. The regular season began on May 14th and ended on July 23rd. The league was announced with eight teams in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada in December after the USL W-League had folder a few months previously. Five teams in a western division were added in January before the Canadian Soccer Association refused entry of two Quebec clubs into UWS, leaving the league at 11 teams for its inaugural season. United Women's Soccer
United Women's Soccer (UWS, also commonly abbreviated UWS) is a second-division pro-am women's soccer league in the United States. The league was founded in 2015 as a response to the dual problems of disorganization in the WPSL and of the folding of the original USL W-League. The league began play in May 2016 with eleven teams in two conferences. The first league currently has 45 teams in 6 conferences and second league currently has 49 teams in 6 conferences. History Background In the summer of 2015, disorganization and the inability to field teams led to many last-minute changes in the WPSL playoffs. This, combined with a general lack of competitiveness due to rapid expansion, led to frustration from many long-time WPSL teams. Brian Haynes (footballer)
Brian Haynes (born 7 May 1962 in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago) is a Trinidadian football coach and former player who earned twenty-one caps with the Trinidad and Tobago national team. He spent his entire professional career in the United States where he played for numerous indoor and outdoor leagues. He was the 1991 American Indoor Soccer Association Rookie of the Year, won three American Professional Soccer League titles and played five seasons with the Dallas Burn in Major League Soccer. Club career Haynes attended Erskine College, playing on the men's soccer team from 1986 to 1989. He was a three time NAIA All American. He graduated in 1989.
