2016 Tour De Suisse
The 2016 Tour de Suisse was the 80th edition of the Tour de Suisse cycling stage race. It took place from 11 to 19 June as the nineteenth event of the 2016 UCI World Tour. It was won by Colombian cyclist Miguel Ángel López. __TOC__ Schedule Participating teams As the Tour de Suisse is a UCI World Tour event, all eighteen UCI Pro Teams were invited automatically and obliged to enter a team into the race. 2016 UCI World Tour
The 2016 UCI World Tour was a competition that included 27 road cycling events throughout the 2016 men's cycling season. It was the eighth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The competition started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 19 January, and concluded with Il Lombardia on 1 October. Spain's Alejandro Valverde was the two-times defending champion. Valverde was unable to defend his title, as he finished fourth in the individual rankings. The title was won for the first time by Slovakian rider Peter Sagan for the team, scoring 669 points over the course of the season. This included victories at Gent–Wevelgem, the Tour of Flanders and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec. Jarlinson Pantano Gómez (born 19 November 1988) is a Colombian racing cyclist, who rides for Colombian amateur team . Pantano previously rode professionally between 2012 and 2019 for the , and teams, before he was suspended for four years after a positive drugs test for erythropoietin (EPO). Career He competed in the 2014 Giro d'Italia. In December 2014 he was announced as part of the squad for the team for 2015. He raced in the 2015 Tour de France, finishing in 19th place. Sölden is a municipality in the Ötztal valley of Tyrol, Austria. Geography At c. , it is the largest municipality in the country. Pieter Weening (born 5 April 1981) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally for the (2004–2011), (2012–2015), (2016–2019), and (2020) teams.
