The 2016 Summit League men's soccer tournament, was the 11th edition of the tournament. It determined the Summit League's automatic berth into the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. The Denver Pioneers won The Summit League title, besting the Omaha Mavericks, 2–1 in the championship match. It was Denver's fourth Summit League title and their fourth consecutive. The CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium, or simply Denver Soccer Stadium, is a soccer-specific stadium located in Denver, Colorado. It is home to the Denver Pioneers soccer teams of the University of Denver, Colorado Rapids 2 of the MLS Next Pro and from June 2016 also the home of PRO Rugby team, Denver Stampede. 2016 Denver Pioneers Men's Soccer Team
The 2016 Denver Pioneers men's soccer team represented the University of Denver during the 2016 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Pioneers played in Summit League where they won the regular season and conference tournament titles. They finished the regular season as one of only two unbeaten teams, the other being top-ranked Maryland. The Pioneers qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season and their seventh overall time. The Pioneers earned a Second Round-bye and were seeded sixth in the tournament. In the second round, they played the UNLV Rebels where they won 3–0, marking their first NCAA Tournament win since 1970. They then defeated Washington 2–1 at home and third-seeded Clemson 1–0 on the road to advance to the school's first-ever College Cup. Summit League Men's Soccer
A summit is a point on a surface that is higher in elevation than all points immediately adjacent to it. The topographic terms acme, apex, peak (mountain peak), and zenith are synonymous. The term (mountain top) is generally used only for a mountain peak that is located at some distance from the nearest point of higher elevation. For example, a big, massive rock next to the main summit of a mountain is not considered a summit. Summits near a higher peak, with some prominence or isolation, but not reaching a certain cutoff value for the quantities, are often considered ''subsummits'' (or ''subpeaks'') of the higher peak, and are considered part of the same mountain. Andre Bava Shinyashiki (born 11 June 1997) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Azerbaijan Premier League club Neftçi PFK. He was named the recipient of the 2019 MLS Rookie of the Year award as well as the 2018 men's soccer Senior CLASS Award, a national recognition awarded to the top men's collegiate senior in college soccer. Elvir Ibišević (born 10 February 1998) is a Bosnian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He represented Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team at the senior level. The Eastern Illinois Panthers men's soccer team represents Eastern Illinois University (EIU) as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in NCAA Division I soccer.
