2016 Sacramento Republic FC Season
The 2016 Sacramento Republic FC season is the club's third season of existence. The club is playing in the United Soccer League (USL), the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. After off season expansion of the USL from 24 to 31 teams, Sacramento Republic FC is competing in the new Western Conference of the USL. The season is to begin in March 2016 and concluded in September 2016. Background 2015 saw much growth in attendance with the expansion of Bonney Field, but this was not a sign of things to come for the club. In 2015, the Republic failed to produce on the field as they did the year before, dropping out of the playoffs in the first round. Their performance in the 2014 U.S. Open Cup was mirrored in 2015, once again losing to San Jose earthquakes in the 4th round. Sacramento Republic FC
Sacramento Republic FC is an American professional soccer team based in Sacramento, California, that plays in the Western Conference of the USL Championship, the second level in US soccer. Co-founded by Warren Smith and Joe Wagoner in 2012, the team started play in 2014 at the 20,231-seat Hughes Stadium, before moving midseason to their current home at Heart Health Park. Republic won the 2014 USL championship and have made the playoffs four times. With fan support and attendance, the team prepared an expansion bid for the top level Major League Soccer, which was submitted in January 2017. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX was the second tier of professional football in Mexico of the Mexican football league system. The champion of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top-flight tier). The bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (the third tier). It was sponsored by BBVA through its Mexican subsidiary BBVA, and was officially known as Ascenso BBVA MX. Quincy Obinna Amarikwa ( ; born October 29, 1987) is an American soccer player. Career College and Amateur Amarikwa attended Liberty High School. He was a member of the Bakersfield Alliance club soccer team and played college soccer at UC Davis. In 2008, he led the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. During his college years, Amarikwa also played with Bakersfield Brigade in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Amarikwa was drafted in the third round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by San Jose Earthquakes. Mackenzie Charles Pridham (born August 13, 1990) is a Canadian soccer player. Career College & Youth Mackenzie Pridham played five years of college soccer at California Polytechnic State University between 2009 and 2013, including a red-shirt year in 2010. At Cal Poly, Pridham was selected as the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Cosumnes River College is a public community college in Sacramento, California. It opened in 1970, taking its name from the Cosumnes River which flows just a few miles to the south. As of Spring 2017, enrollment was at 13,091 students at its main and satellite campus in Elk Grove, California. Folsom Lake College, a former satellite campus, attained independence in 2004.
