2016 Purdue Boilermakers Football Team
The 2016 Purdue Boilermakers football team was an American football team that represented Purdue University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Boilermakers were members of the West Division of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Ross–Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. They were led by fourth-year head coach Darrell Hazell until he was fired on October 16, 2016. Gerad Parker was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. They finished the season 3–9, 1–8 in Big Ten play to finish in last place in the West Division. Preseason In 2015, Purdue compiled a 2–10 record (1–7 in conference play) during the regular season, failing to qualify for a bowl game for the third straight season. Darrell Hazell
Darrell Ivan Hazell (born April 14, 1964) is a former American football college and National Football League (NFL) coach. Hazell has been a head coach twice, with Kent State from 2011 to 2012, and Purdue from 2013 to 2016. A native of Cinnaminson Township, New Jersey, Hazell graduated in 1982 from Cinnaminson High School where he played football and ran track and then attended Muskingum University starting in the fall of 1982. He played on the football team as a starter for his final three years at the school. Hazell graduated in 1986. He held assistant coaching positions at Oberlin, Eastern Illinois, Penn, Western Michigan, Army, West Virginia, and Rutgers. Hazell then served as the wide receivers coach at Ohio State under Jim Tressel from 2004 to 2010. In December 2010, Kent State hired him as its head coach. Randy Melvin (born April 3, 1959) is the defensive line coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Playing career High school Melvin attended Aurora West High School in Aurora, Illinois and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1994. Timothy Frederick Lester (born February 8, 1977) is an American football coach who is the senior analyst for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). The Syracuse Orange football team represents Syracuse University in the sport of American football. Rubin Carter (American Football)
Rubin Carter (born December 12, 1952) is a former American football player and coach. He most recently served as defensive line coach for Purdue University. Carter played professionally as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) with the Denver Broncos from 1975 to 1986 Carter was the head coach of the Florida A&M Rattlers football team from 2005 to 2007. Carter has been the defensive line coach at the University of New Mexico under head coach Mike Locksley. Carter graduated from Fort Lauderdale's Stranahan High School in 1971.
