2016 O'Byrne Cup
The 2016 O'Byrne Cup was a Gaelic football competition played by the teams of Leinster GAA. The competition differs from the Leinster Senior Football Championship as it also features further education colleges and the winning team does not progress to another tournament at All-Ireland level. Meath were the winners. Format 16 teams compete: 11 county teams (all those of Leinster except Kilkenny) and 5 third-level teams: DIT, UCD, IT Carlow, DCU and Maynooth University. The teams are drawn into 4 groups of 4 teams each. Each team plays the other teams in its group once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The four group winners progress to the semi-finals. Group A Group B *Louth are placed ahead of Kildare because they won the head-to-head game between the teams. Donal Keogan
Donal Keogan (born 13 April 1991) is a Gaelic footballer who plays at senior level for the Meath county football team, Meath county team. As of 2016, Keogan was captain of the senior Meath football team, and also plays for his local club Rathkenny GAA, Rathkenny. The Laois County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Laois) or Laois GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Laois. UCD GAA or University College Dublin Gaelic Athletic Association club is a Dublin based Gaelic games club in University College Dublin. The UCD hurling club was founded in 1900 and boasted the mottos "Ad Astra" and "Cothrom Féinne". The first team was an amalgamation of students from UCD and Cecilia St. Although UCD had been playing Gaelic football unofficially since 1900, the official club history began in the season of 1911/1912. DIT GAA or Dublin Institute of Technology GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association University Club in Dublin Institute of Technology County Dublin, Ireland. DIT's men's Gaelic football team compete in the Sigerson Cup and the O'Byrne Cup. DIT won its first Sigerson Cup in 2013, defeating UCC in the final by 3-08 to 0-08.
